Caused by inadequate signage during recent road works which resulted in hundreds of vehicles cutting through all the lanes where they could rather than following the official diversion. Verges all destroyed and resulting mud dragged into the lane, causing a skid hazard. Needs doing ASAP please.

Romsley lane road surface extreme defects/road surface pot holes, 5th March

Tue, 05 Mar 2024 18:41:58 +0000
52.443458 -2.322875

With the recent road closures on the A442 the diversion route on the whole length of Romsley Lane has taken its toll on the condition of the lane surface. This is a major issue where Romsle Lane meets the Worcestershire border all the way towards Alveley. Prior to the closures the lane was already in some disrepair with the recent works of Severn Trent using Sham Lane, Romsley Lane as a means of getting to their pipeline using various types of vehicle along Romsley Lane and the last few weeks have now caused extensive damage to verges, driveway entrances and most importantly the road/lane itself with the additional closures of the A442. There are a vast amount of dangerous pot holes, cracks in the roads, road edge defects and to add further insult the volume of traffic on such a lane has caused the lane to be a mud bath….. increasing flooded parts of the road, drainage issues to name a few! The road is extremely dangerous to road users, including pedestrians and cyclists and it will only be a matter of imminent time something serious is going to happen and claims are going to be made. Please can someone set Romsley Lane as an urgent priority to get this road back to normal? Kind regards

Damage to Romsley Lane after A442 road closures, 5th March

Tue, 05 Mar 2024 18:24:14 +0000
52.438127 -2.314236

The road closures on the A442 over the last few weeks have resulted in vehicles, including HGVs, travelling along Romsley Lane in both directions to get round the road closure. This has resulted in massive further damage to the road surface and created even more potholes. The verges of the lane have been turned into mud baths where vehicles have tried to edge past each other. Could you please come and repair the lane? In future it would be a good idea to position a Police Officer at the bottom of the lane to turn back HGVs and send them on the published Diversion Route.

This road is covered with mud the whole length and all the grass verge have been ruined by the HGV lorries that have been using the road. It is very slippery and it is a huge mud pit. Disgusting state of road surfcace, 1st March

Fri, 01 Mar 2024 20:35:02 +0000
52.438152 -2.314263

This report is further to my earlier report of the same problem for which nothing has been done and now the road surface and potholes are much much worse, this has not been helped by much more traffic using Romsley Lane due to the ongoing road works on the A442 and the road closed signs being ignored. As this problem is on the Shropshire/Worcestershire border there is a noticable difference in the quality of the road surface, why can Worcestershire council maintain their section of the road far better than Shropshire and they also respond to reports of damage much quicker! As this lane has been used as a motorway recently a roadsweeper is badly needed there is mud everwhere!

Cats eyes covered in mud, 20th February

Tue, 20 Feb 2024 21:19:09 +0000
52.443174 -2.332691

This section of highway is covered in mud, rendering the cats eyes on the road uselsss on a bend. There are also no white lines on the sides of the road so is difficult to see where the road is when there is oncoming traffic in the dark. The Severn Trent works also have no wheel washing and add additional mud to the road, further hindering the effectiveness of the cats eyes.

Very large and deep pothole which cannot be avoided, 16th February

Fri, 16 Feb 2024 09:11:52 +0000

This is a very large and deep pothole which cannot be avoided as the lane is narrow. There is increased traffic along the lane as another access lane is currently closed due to pipeline works so this pothole has got very large, very quickly,. When filled with water you cannot see it. A resident has damaged their car on it this morning.
