Slip road design poor. Change back to 2 lanes as previously when traffic flowed off the m18 here much better. Now traffic queues all along the M18 Jct 3 exit slip and right up to the a1! Terrible design. Dangerous. Vehicles cannot merge off m18 onto exit slip safely.

Lots of Litter scattered along the edges of the A1, 3rd February
Large amounts of litter (plastic bottles, cans, packages etc) behind the barriers on the eastbound at the M18 and A1 junction. The litter continues in large amounts scattered along the A1 continuously eastbound.

Accident due to water logging on Motorway, 3rd October
Incident date: Saturday - around 7 pm. We were held up along with 100s of other cars for about half an hour. One of the cars also developed an issue and was pushed to the hard shoulder in the rain. Water logging on motorway caused accident requiring Police and Ambulance (hope no fatalities). There was a board put up about water on motorway, though it was very dark and raining, sign was barely visible. An illuminated sign asking everyone to slow down or forcing speed limit restrictions would have helped avoid the accident. People speed during rains thinking speed cameras do not work in rain.

Dangerous queues since lanes on slip road changed from 2 to 1., 31st July
Fast flowing traffic on m18 trying to leave onto junction 3 northbound exit slip, into almost stationery traffic on slip road and a1 onto m18 slip. This causes traffic to have to stop on live lane 1 of m18 whilst traffic ahead merges onto exit slip.

White Cross Lane Bridge South - Concrete, 9th March
M18 J2 / A1 J35 roundabout - the bridge where the roandabout crosses White Cross Lane to the South East of the M18. Between the northern edge beam and 2nd beam a mortar joint exists. This looks loose over the public highway. Could someone have a look please?

The banking and grassed area to the right has an unacceptable amount of litter, milk cartons, takeaway coffee cups, drink cans, pizza boxes etc, judging by the amount and the condition I suspect this rubbish has been there for some time.

Clean up the litter at this roundabout please. What a disgrace the entire network is these days. Unbelievable lack of cleaning or maintenance by National Highways

Sliproad off the M18 is absolutely disgusting, 29th December
The amount of litter around here is disgusting, not helped by the fact the traffic lights hold you on red with absolutely no traffic coming (pointless lights) you can't say this has happened over 6 months (referring to your normal excuse of we clean here twice a year) to be fair the whole of the A1M is strewn with litter, plastic bags hanging off trees. Get the whole area cleaned

Approximately only 10 cats eyes remaining between slow and middle lanes from junction 2 to a point approximately 4 miles south west of roundabout. Also Road markings between slow and middle lanes have no reflectivity.

Why???, 11th December
As much as I hope this last evenings disruption here was not anything serious in respect of accidents, I do hope there was a damn good reason for throwing us all off the M18 at 8pm on a Saturday evening!
Southbound, heading towards the M1 for Sheffield from Hull. A journey that usually takes me about an hour and twenty minutes. Two damn hours tonight! I do believe this closing off of the M18 has happened before recently, maybe multiple times at this location. Seriously, if this was some road works, why on earth cant it be done in the dead of night, like 2 to 3 am. There is still an awful lot of traffic out and about in the late evening, and this is a pretty major motorway link to be closing off. Thankfully I do know the non-motorway routes reasonably well, not everyone will of course.
So again, why?
There is still the speed restrictions over the Ouse at the moment, and there was something going on near the Humber bridge this (yesterday) morning on the A63. Again we were all forced off for a closure of some sort, though there were police present that time, so who knows. Either way, another great motoring day on our wonderful road system!
I hate driving nowadays, its no fun at all!

40 mph gantry sign, 10th November
The outer live line approaching the exit has been warning of 40 mph for a few days now. This 40 mph normally indicates a queue ahead, so drivers are slowing down unnecessarily and causing an issue behind. There is no obstruction, no warning needed. Drivers will start discarding these signs if not updated
