10 potholes, 5th May
We would like to report the second failed attempt of filling up the potholes in this road. We’ve reported it two weeks ago after the company who did the work didn’t fill all the potholes which was marked by the council. The council acted swiftly and marked the holes again, but only 1/3 were filled. On one photo there is two, of which they filled only one. Another one had been ignored a second time. Most are on the side of the roads where the wheels go, which means we have to drive off the road on the opposite side to prevent damage to our tyres & our cars & is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for motorists , bikers and cyclists.

Multiple potholes and decayed road surface, 5th May
About two months ago potholes in Lockyers Hill were marked to be filled. The roadworkers arrived but left without doing it as they said they brought the wrong machine. The holes had now become so severe that is EXTREMELY DANEGROUS for motorists, bikers and cyclist. Cyclist come at high speeds down the hill and somebody will kill themself. This road is completely unroadworthy now. I live at the bottom of the hill and I insists that tis done without any further delay.

Numerous potholes, 14th April
We would like to lodge a complaint against the company who gets contracted to fill up the potholes in our roads. We submit regular notifications of dangerous potholes in our local village, Luddesdown’s roads, which the council in good time react to, but the contractors who are contracted, only fills literally a third of the potholes. Please see evidence attached of Leywood road which was done on Monday the 11th April. I’ve counted 9 holes which was left, some of which was even marked and not filled. Lockyers hill was also done a few weeks ago, but left so bad that it’s impossible to drive on anymore without damage to your tyres. We as a village is very unhappy about this, as we feel we pay top band council tax, and need to feel safe. It’s hard to believe that we live in the South East of England, only 30 miles from London, but the road up to my house looks like those in the middle of Africa. Please could you give this matter your urgent attention, as somebody is going to write off their car, or even worse get seriously hurt on roads in this state. Many thanks,

Tree of significant beauty & age providing significant shelter to native wildlife is to be cut by neighbours, 3rd February
I am contacting you on behalf of my parents living at the address given. They have a very mature (80-1100yr) Copper Beach Tree at the end of their garden. The tree has been in their care for 50 years & is an healthy beautiful specimen. The tree of significant protection & roosting to birds such as Jays, Magpies, Thrush & Tits & grey squirrel. The trees branches extends across the boundary into the only neighbouring garden. This neighbours property had up until 2020 natural woodland & formed part of the North Downs woodland Scape. The residents systematically stripped the entire woodland on their property and beyond into farm property. This has impacted on a huge loss for native woodland animals & birds. My parents neighbours have now issued a solicitor letter to my parents telling them they intend to remove all overhanging branches over the boundary of the Copper Beach. This will cause significant harm to the tree in both balance of its shape & important habitat to native woodland wildlife that shelters, perches, nests, & use of trees natural foods such as beech nut. This tree does NOT impact any light issues to the neighbors house. In fact it is approx 40 metres from any house. It is in our opinion that this tree needs a tree preservation order placed on it as a matter of urgency as they plan to cut it away by 11Feb. Please can you help us urgently preserve a tree of beauty, & wildlife importance ...this is a rare example of such a tree anywhere in the local vicinity. It is our belief looking at the TOTAL removal of their own woodland that the neighbouring residents will want to remove all the tree they can. Please contact me as soon as possible. I can send photos of the tree. Cutting a tree of this size & type will cause irreparable damage to its beauty, & significantly impact woodland wildlife.

Shooting on or near footpaths, 5th December
For the second or third time there has been beating and pheasant shooting in Happy Valley in which all fields have footpaths crossing or bordering them. Photos are from Sat 4th. Surely this is not permitted in such a heavily used area? One resident on the public byway had a dead pheasant drop at their feet!
