Another pothole has appeared on the patch repair done some time ago. Although only around 125mm in diameter now it is starting to get bigger and will soon become an issue. We are already beginning to feel the vibration in our property as vehicles drive over the damage

A51 Eastbound, Calveley, 26th April
An ever growing pot hole appears to be causing shakes to houses on the road. While shaking has been minimal as part and parcel of living on the main road it has increased rapidly in the past month. The shear quantity of heavy traffic, and large loads (including trucks and tractors) at speeds above than the 30mph limit has caused this pot hole to grow quickly. While it may not be the direct cause of the shaking, the pot hole needs fixing.
Additionally, the traffic does not obey the 30mph speed limit. The local council has appealed for average speed cameras, where funds have been available but this is continually ignored by the council. I would like to raise this publicly, as it will help to address the damage to the road and increase the safety for residents. Especially as the council keeps approving housing to be built, so the population of the village will grow rapidly; thus increasing the risk of an accident.

Outside Earls Croft near bus stop on South bound side., 24th April
Sorry, yet another pothole! Seems to be getting bigger every day as it is on the nearside wheel line for HGVs. There is another pothole forming towards Calveley. This section of the A51 seems to be developing several isolated areas of damage as it suffers from continuous HGV traffic and small holes soon develop into larger problems as the wearing course breaks up..

Drains blocked again due to traffic diversion onto lane whilst A51 was closed. HGVs pushed verge down into drains compacting with mud. Potentially drains might have been broken.

Huge and deep pothole on carriageway. This pothole is sharp and has smashed my tyre travelling at low speeds. The pothole is concealed by floodwater coming out of private property. Very dangerous

Long Lane, Alpraham, Barrets Green / junction of A51, 10th April
Extensive flooding 10.04.2024 has left most of the gullys full of black silt. This means water is left pooling on the road and may be the cause of flooding in one of the houses' garden. We have requested a vac truck many times in the past but they are never "on the schedule" - can this gully clearing be done now the problem has become so much worse?

Junction A51 and Long Lane Alpraham, 10th April
Constant flooding with any moderate rainfall. Floods onto Meadowside drive, around buildings, through garden and into field - then runs 'down' to Calveley where it adds to the A51 flood / closure and flooding of sewerage works and neighbouring property. (Could this be an enviromental health issue?) In 2018 a camera survey showed root intrusion under the A51 and a CEC official did recommend a root cutter. That never happened. We note the level of water on the lane is higher than on the 'Laurels' side. Flow seems slow there compared with higher up the lane. I assume the roots have increased and are semi blocking the drain. Can anything be done before we are flooded again? We've been waiting for 7 years!

Road outside 'The Willows' on Calveley Hall Lane, near to junction with Long Lane., 10th April
Following yesterday's closure of the A51 at Bailey's cheese factory due to flooding, Calveley Hall Lane again became the alternative A51. Yet again, the high volume of unsuitable traffic trying to squeeze by each other, in particular HGVs, turned the grass verges into mud baths! This mud has again found its way into the drains and associated pipework. Your suction drainage team did a wonderful job recently of clearing these drains. Sadly, because of the A51 closure, we're back to square one again. These drains need cleaning again! We also need, at the very least, multiple cones along the verge to dissuade HGVs from pulverising the area to oblivion and causing a repeat of the problem. After the traffic stopped yesterday, I attempted my own one-man clean-up operation, including rodding the mud from the pipework, but to little avail.

Calveley Hall Lane, 10th April
Calveley Hall Lane has been used, again, as the diversion after the A51 closure yesterday. This road is simply unsuitable and cannot take this many vehicles in diversion back to the A51. It is becoming very dangerous when this happens not to mention that horse riders, children that also use this road it is simply not suitable nor is it safe. Residents are now to have to put up with the aftermath with even more potholes and mud on the road making it unsafe for its users. The potholes should have been amended a while ago, however they have just simply reappeared after what seemed to be just a temporary job. The mud, if it doesn’t get washed away by the rain is very slippy and quite frankly an eye sore.

Calveley hall labe, 9th April
Peppered with pot holes, collapsed edge of carriageway for the majority of the lane. Main road was shut today and HGVs were using the lane with cars and vans. Vehicles were getting their underside of their cars scrapped having no choice but to enter and go through potholes as vehicles struggled to pass one another. Lane was also quite flooded due to heavy rain, so extent of pot holes could not be realised by drivers. This lane is a stones throw of Highways’ yard at Wardle!
