Pothole, 13th March

Wed, 13 Mar 2024 11:19:46 +0000
52.408699 -1.246156

As I proceeded in the left hand lane heading towards Market harborough, there was a loud bang, I could hear my tyre was blown, I turned right just into Lutterworth road and put hazards on. My passenger rear tyre was flat, BV20 XEU. Just up on the right, there was another car with her hazards on, reg FX69 VHG, she had also hit the pothole and her front passenger tyre was flat. I had to call a family member to help, who came from Leicester. The AA arrived for the car in front, he had just come from an earlier call nearby, someone who had 2 flat tyres, passenger side and was off to another call down the road with the same problem. I have just retruned from the garage, the tyre had below in 2 places and the cost was £97.70, receipt available.

Southbound J1 of M6 Exit Slipway - Pothole, 5th March

Tue, 05 Mar 2024 08:18:21 +0000
52.408797 -1.249308

The exit slip road has (I think in L1) a 2-3 inch deep pothole in it, often full of water. It isn't massively wide but is quite deep and thus quite severe when you cannot see it in the dark. It would easily break suspension components / wheels.

Large number of forgotten roadworks signs and cones, 23rd February

Fri, 23 Feb 2024 17:45:49 +0000
52.408684 -1.246357

The M6 J1 roundabout has a small central reservation where the M6 exit slipway splits into two (one for round the roundabout, one for into the services and onto the road towards Lutterworth). There are a lot of old roadworks signs and cones left over by idle contractors. In the recent winds they have blown onto the road and people have been stopping on the slipway to move them.

As you leave Rugby heading towards Lutterworth you travel over the roundabout shown. This road surface has always been bad since construction, but is currently dangerous due to the number of potholes that force cars to take evasive action. The road markings will also need a refresh due to the HGV traffic.

The paint on the roundabout as you exit towards Rugby or towards the M6 has faded so much it is not clear which lane should go into what. The design of the junction means that 2 try to fit into 1 frequently at the lights just before the M6 exit off the roundabout.
