Pot hole which has been repaired 3 or 4 times, 22nd March
There is a leak in the water mains, which then leaks out of this pothole. They then fill it it but it then Reappears as the water is still leaking. It’s such a waste of water. Spoken to the people that repaired it the last few times and they didn’t seem to know where the water was coming from. So they patch it up but then after 3 months it breaks ups and falls Out due to the water. Can feel it through The workshops on the corner p&a wood when a lorry or heavy vehicle goes over it.

Huge pothole with exposed iron work, 2nd December
Very large and deep pothole adjacent to drain covers in centre of road. This is deep enough to unseat a bicycle or motorcyclist. Would also cause extensive damage to motor car resulting in expensive compensation claims on Essex CC.

Inaccurate and misleading road sign, 2nd November
The road sign at the entrance to Duton Hill from the B 184 indicates "1 mile to Duton Hill". This is very inaccurate as at that point you are already in Duton Hill and in fact it is only 500 yards from there to the centre of the village at the Three Horseshoes Pub - and only half a mile to the bridge at the bottom of Duton Hill, after which you are out of the village completely. It is no surprise that visitors to the village often overshoot. This sign should be replaced by one that more accurately indicates a quarter of a mile to Duton Hill as that distance will take you to within a few yards of the centre of the village.

Blocked drain at bottom of Duton Hill just below the bridge at junction with, 2nd November
This drain has been blocked for at least a year. It floods every time it rains and on frosty mornings freezes over. Clearly this is a hazard, particularly as drivers often speed down the hill and will be unable to stop if the pool of water is frozen. The junction is very prone to flooding and it has done so many times over the past twenty years, causing many cars to break down in the water. Presumably the drain is full of silt. It should be cleared now.
