Three large potholes in close proximity to each other. Two c 30inch x20inch and around 3 inches deep. The other is slightly smaller, 22nd March
These have been here for at least 3-4 months and you have to straddle them hence you are forced onto the middle of the road. This is a busy rural road that is heavily used as Essex & Suffolk Water is based further along Middlemead. Coupled with their plant movement plus local tractors and a school bus route makes this a busy road. It also a popular cyclist route.

Under Highway water outflow pipes blocked causing flooding, 13th November
Under road water outflow blocked creating backlog of water into private gardens destroying fences and vegetation as water unable to continue it course into opposite culvert which has been neglected for many years with nobody taking of claiming responsibility or ownership for Reported to ECC 20/10/23 ref FS555833581 and 13/11/23 ref 2878602

Dangerous tree/bush with sharp branches sticking out into road at head height, 13th November
Dangerous tree/bush with sharp branches sticking out into road at head height almost impossible for cyclist/motorbike and motorists to avoid without pulling into oncoming traffic on blind corner, been getting worse over last few months and now dark nights here and accident waiting to happen

Huge pothole on bend, c 3feet x 2feet plus another smaller one beside it. Causes vehicles to swerve into oncoming traffic. at least 10 inches deep but too dangerous to stop to take photos, 2nd November
Road has collapsed causing a large pothole in the carriageway, dangerous position as on a bend on a narrow road that is also a bus route. causes drivers to serve into the other carriageway as would cause serious damage to car and to anyone on two wheels. when filled with rain looks like a large puddle.

The whole cross section is so bad with potholes it’s an accident waiting to happen!, 26th April
The potholes have been there since we moved here in November last year and are progressively getting worse - vehicles drive on the other side of the road to avoid the potholes

Dangerous tree, 5th April
Overhanging tree covered in ivy on a blind bend and getting lower to road each week Taller vehicles coming around blind bend only see tree at last second and have to move into oncoming traffic which also cant see them until last seconds to avoid hitting This is a busy country cut through Road with plenty of cyclists/vehicles/trucks and agricultural only just wide enough for 2 normal size vehicles under normal circumstances Extra care need to be taken anyway negotiating this series of bends/concrete sidings with this tree an accident waiting to happen due to its location. Trust as council now aware of the problem this will be dealt with top urgency before someone is injured or worse.

Overgrown roadside water ditch causing flooding, 8th February
Ditch on opposite side to houses been overgrown for years and getting worse causing ditches opposite to overflow pipe under road is supposed to carry water away to ditch which should then disperses onto South Hanningfield reservoir land who claim no responsibility as do Anglia Water.

Deep potholes critical safety issue, 23rd October
My son had a near fatal accident caused by deep potholes in this area. His car has been written off due to potholes causing his car to loose control and hitting a tree. Police informed and attended scene of accident 22.10.22

Dropped road. Ironworks hitting tyre on edge of metal plate, 18th September
There is another further down the road ( both on south side of road heading for Rettendon common. Road has collapsed away from iron works. Both causing extreme shock to tyre and suspension . Dangerous long/wide pothole and road breaking up, 16th March
This enormous long and wide pot hole was reported over a year ago and is getting worse on the T junction of South Hanningfield Road and Middlemead This is on a heavily used T junction used by all variants of traffic - bus, car, bicycles etc The hole is almost impossible to avoid as road users have to manoeuvre across road to avoid. In heavy rain when full of water it cannot be seen. the council and highways must be aware about this after all they filled in holes not far away and must have driven over it when when putting up the 50+ waste of money new road signs instead of repairing the roads With the better weather coming and more cyclist and vehicles using this area an accident is waiting to happen let hope its not fatal.
