Misleading sign, 23rd February
Most people walking from firle up to the downs ridge walk along the field edge but the legal route goes through the woods here and it still sees a lot of use. This photo is taken from the west side of the gate looking towards the legal right of way so is extremely misleading. The gate is locked. Climbing over the gate I could see no way through the trees to the south. Can you tell me what is supposed to be going on here?

Firle Byway 12 at Newelm. Byway completely blocked and signs removed where it joins the Firle Bostal road. Also blocked to the west by hedging where it should join Beddingham Byway 9.
This Byway appears to not exist because of the lack of signing and blocking.
Asside from an ancient right of way, It is an important and safe route for cyclists heading to Beddingham 4b without using or having to cross the dangerous A27 trunk road and needs to be re-instated.
