Tree preservation order application, 8th April
A very large mature oak tree, with trunk diameter of at least 2 metres and an enormous canopy, which provides huge amenity to the local area. Firstly, it's a very important tree for views from the South Downs park, which it lies within. Those views including but not limited to from the South Downs way Jack and Jill section, from Wolstenbury Hill etc where it screens development and buildings to the South of Hurstpierpoint. Secondly it provides amenity to the residents of Albert Silsby Place, The Old Flower Field Lodges and other nearby properties in screening the commercial barns/buildings, storage, and piles of vehicles located to the West of the tree.

The area from stone pound traffic lights and the rail bridge in hassocks was reported last year
Network Rail should have undertaken work last September please issue an enforcement notice as some trees have fallen Others including a large dead oak tree put the road and station carpark at risk. Further the footway is still encroached on by mulch and vegetation
