The Royal Tunbridge Wells section of the postcode borders on the town of Tunbridge Wells, a popular tourist destination.

Residents of the TN20 postcode have access to a variety of amenities including several schools, libraries, medical centres, recreational venues and restaurants. There are several local attractions in the area including Scotney Castle, Bedgebury Pinetum, Groombridge Place, Tonbridge Castle, Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery, and Hever Castle. TN20 is made up of several villages and towns located along the B2099 and A21 roads and the main railway lines connecting the area to London. Transport links in the area include the nearest train station, Tonbridge, and the High Speed rail link. The Tonbridge area is serviced by the 1, 2, 3, 12, 114, 130 and 266 bus routes. The closest airport is London Gatwick Airport, located approximately 33 miles away.

Although the area is predominantly rural, TN20 has been the subject of several high-profile developments in recent years. These include the new Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the Kings Hill development, various housing developments as well as several business parks and shopping centres.
