There are also plenty of amenities and leisure facilities in the area, such as Gresham Middlesbrough Cricket Club, the Middlesbrough Theatre, and Stewart Park.
Education in the area is supported by two universities, Teesside University and the University of Northumbria. The latter has a campus in the centre of town, which also serves as the borough's most iconic landmark. In addition, there are also three colleges in the area: Teesside University College, Redcar and Cleveland College, and Middlesbrough College. A range of primary and secondary schools are located throughout the district.
The area is also home to a variety of retail outlets, including a range of independent shops and restaurants. The town centre also boasts a number of major high-street retailers, as well as food markets and popular cafés. There is no shortage of places to eat and drink in Teesside, with a selection of takeaways, pubs, bars, and clubs.
