PE26 is a postcode district in the district of Peterborough. It is located approximately 50 miles from London and covers an area of 19.22 square miles.
The area falls within the East Cambridgeshire local authority and is home to roughly 7,800 people (according to the 2011 Census). The majority of the population live in villages such as Chatteris, Kings Ripton and Wimblington, whilst the remainder base themselves in the larger town of Chatteris.
The area is rural in nature and well-connected to other parts of the country, with the A141 running through part of the area and the A15, A1 and M11 all nearby. Chatteris railway station also provides regular services to Cambridge and Ely.
As with many rural areas, much of the local economy revolves around agriculture, with many of the villages hosting traditional businesses such as farm shops, vehicle dealerships and outdoor pursuits services. Although the district is largely rural, there are some small industrial estates within the area and larger employers can also be found in Chatteris.
The area also serves as a popular destination for visitors looking to explore the natural beauty of the region, with a number of parks, lakes and woodlands to be found within the postcode district. The Pymoor nature reserve and Anglesey Abbey also make for an interesting day out.
Thanks to its low crime rates, keen house prices and plentiful amenities, the area remains an appealing option for both young professionals and those starting a family. And, with its close proximity to the cities of Cambridge and Peterborough, it also provides easy access to the rest of the UK.
