The postcode area is predominantly residential, and there is a range of property stock in the area. This includes terraced, semi-detached and detached housing, as well as some apartments, with prices tending to be lower than in other nearby postcode areas, such as EH9 and EH16.

Residents in EH15 have access to a number of parks and green spaces, including Musselburgh Common, Joppa Shore, and a number of smaller public and private parks. The area is also home to the historic Brunton Theatre and Musselburgh Old Course, the oldest golf course in the world still in use.

EH15 is well-served by public transport, with regular bus and rail services providing connnection to East Lothian, Midlothian and Edinburgh city centre. The Edinburgh Airport and Edinburgh Gateway Station are also located nearby.

Popular attractions in the area include Musselburgh Racecourse, Fisherrow Links, and the John Gray Centre, a museum dedicated to the history of Musselburgh.
