Surface water drains alongside road blocked
6th December
A 2ft diameter pipe which carries Colebrook and water from drains alongside road, is blocked and the brook water is finding a new way across a field to join the brook further down stream. Professor Mitchard, Colebrook House, 01886888519, profmit@outlook.com

Vegetation exceeding the verge into the highway
20th October
In many places alongside this woodland. This probably is just seasonal but again it seems it gets a bit further into the carriageway each year. It is only kept back by lorries and large vehicles bashing it - which isn't really fair on roadusers is it? I regularly meet the Martley school bus on this section of road in the morning and it cannot get tight to the verge making it quite hazardous. At certain sections where it is worst you will see where the verge and edge of the carriageway has collapsed on the other side of the road. I am sure this is partly due to vehilcles being forced off the road and onto the verge to avoid vehicles in the middle of the road driving the other way.

Hedge in the Road
again
This is not just the usual seasonal growth. It has been 'creeping' into the carriageway for a couple of years and now represents a serious issue for drivers where the road is already very narrow.

Overgrown tree branches
9th December
At the end of the Queensway cul de sac are trees on council land. Some of the branches have become overgrown and are now pushing hard up against the telephone lines that supply number 2 & 3. In a high wind due to the stress on the telephone lines, the branches may cause damage to the lines. The branches need to be trimmed back and the stress on the telephone cables removed. One of the residents at number 2 is registered disabled and requires a working telephone line in case of emergency.

Overgrown hedges
6th July
Along the service road and the pavement in Queens Estate there are a number of hedges that cover a lot of the pavement making it difficult to use a mobility scooter on the pavement. As the ground slopes away from the pavement quite steeply, if you go to wide to avoid the hedges, the mobility scooter could tipple and the rider.

Overgrown hedge
6th July
Due to overgrown hedge covering a lot of the pavement, it is very difficult to negotiate a mobility scooter on the pavement especially on the intersection of Queensway and the service road. The result may be that a mobility scooter may tip over injuring the rider.

Very dangerous Pot Hole
22nd December
I was driving on this road (Whitey Rd, A443) this evening (22/12/12) and drove over a massive pothole before I had chance to swerve out of the way. This pot hole completely shredded my front passenger wheel and forced me to stop on a dangerous busy main road. I had my 3 year old daughter with me at the time and found it extremely distressing having to stop on such a busy main road in the pitch black. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long for assistance. But as I said I now have no front tyre and am now going to have to rely on my spare for the next few weeks due to christmas. I think it is disgusting that nothing has been done about this pothole, and feel let down by the council. Thankfully I was able to call my partner to change my tyre for me, but it could have been a lot worse. For the sake of other people who may be driving along this road, please fix this pot hole. Thank you.

Collapsed drain
7th March
Adjacent to a drain cover, right where the road is at its narrowest (not wide enough for two cars), is a hole that opens up each year. Each year the highway authority shoves a bit of tarmac in it and hopes that will be that. It looks very likely that the drain pipe below is cracked/broken and the seepage from it causes the collapse. The result of putting bits of tarmac in the hole from time to time is that it is slowly becoming more unsteadying for vehicles (and positively dangerous for scooters and motorcycles). As there is again a hole that needs filling it would be nice to see a proper repair done, and the hazard removed for good.
