Overgrown vegetation obscuring cycle path
8th June
Cycle path alongside A38 from Goodstone Cross to Ashburton is overgrown in several places, preventing users from passing other cyclists/pedestrians safely. Caton junction and Sigford junction are particularly bad and have to be gone around instead of using the path.

Road markings too faded
5th January
Driving before first light regularly I note that the road markings (arrow particularly) pointing you toward the exit lane as you travel onto the bridge over the A38 towards Newton Abbot are very worn and don't show up well under normal headlights. Lane markings are not very clear either. The arrow in particular appears to have degraded as I always use that. Visibility was not great this morning and I could hardly see the arrow.

Misogynistic offensive graffiti
31st December
The name Tate has been painted in massive letters on the wall of the bridge which carries the A38 dual carriageway over the local Bickington to Haytor road at Bickington in South Devon. This is a clear reference to and shows support for the recently arrested online hate misogynist Andrew Tate and needs to be removed asap as it is very offensive.

Cycle path dangerously overgrown
10th March
Feb 2021 I reported this issue. As a cycling commuter using this path five days a week for the last 18 years this is a situation that has never been addressed in all of that time.
The buildup of dirt and grass growing over a 4 foot wide path has reduced it to only 1 foot wide in a place or two. This forces passing cyclists to stop, dismount or pass dangerously close to the oncoming 70mph traffic 2 feet away the other side of the gutter. I include a copy of the response given to me last February. However no attendance has been seen.
Work is going on in this area extensively to improve the roadway carriageways and the vegetation on the verges.
This is a very small situation that does not require major engineering, but rather a single pass of a small blade lifting the overgrown grass and a stiff brush to be able to clear the pathway. Recent storms have left twigs branches and other debris in the way of this. I have fallen off at least once on the uncleared leaves which have caused me to fall and rip clothing and damage my legs. This forms part of the national cycle pathway between Exeter to Plymouth and has a major route is severely undermaintained.
I do appreciate that there is a lot of ongoing roadway carriageway maintenance. With so many workers within the area working around the night would it be possible to distribute a small group, or single small tractor driver, for just a few hours to rectify this problem that would probably need No further maintenance for a large number of years afterwards.
This request is not for anything other than the clearance of debris from an existing cycle path which is more than significantly wide enough.
It has however never been cleared in the last 20 years and as such as overgrown . Here is the letter I was given via email to assure me that attending to this would be done within a matter of months. It is now over a year.
Our ref: 21846702 Dear Sir/Madam Thank you for your email of 11 February 2021 about the cycle path alongside A38 Devon Expressway between A383 Newton Abbot road junction at Goodstone and Ashburton Linhay. We appreciate you taking the time to bring this issue to our attention and well be clearing the cycle path shortly. Were sorry that the cycle path is in a condition that you feel is unsafe. In addition to the work mentioned above, we now have a yearly schedule of maintenance in place for the sides of the path. This will be starting in October 2021. We hope this helps with your enquiry. Huge puddle has formed in the outside lane eastbound. Very deep, and extremely dangerous - you come into it very suddenly. Emergency signage needed immediately to slow the traffic down.

Abandoned vehicle
20th February
This vehicle has been abandoned on this lane junction for 2 and a half months now. The windows have been smashed since the picture was taken. This is causing an obstruction for emergency vehicles, refuse collection and deliveries. This section of road is due for resurfacing commencing 1st March and the vehicle will be on the way.

Fence damaged
16th November
For the fifth time in as many years a vehicle has driven through our boundary fence at this junction destroying the fence. This is costing us thousands of pounds to rectify. Could a crash barrier be installed alongside this junction to prevent this happening? The fence is still damaged after a recent crash and is now not stock proof.

Oil/tar on road where verges were cut
5th June
The verge at the junction to rentor view was cut last week. It would seem that the machinery has hit a plastic barrel of some black liquid and it is on the road at the side. Children and animals go down the road so I was concerned they would get it on them.

Needs a sign "unsuitable for motor vehicles' road surface is missing for long stretches and in one 20 metre section is dangerous to cross.
19th April
Grid Reference 810707 The stretch of road has got progressively worse through the winter until it is just about impassable. The road is steep and therefore water has eroded it badly. For one particular stretch a car would bottom out if not approached very slowly. It is used by vehicles from Denbury, Wotton, West Ogwell Broadhempston etc to get easily onto the Ashburton road and its constant use is adding quickly to it's deterioration..
