Subject: Complaint Regarding Nighttime Roadworks Disrupting Sleep
Dear Transport for London,
I am writing to express my concern and frustration regarding the ongoing roadworks taking place during the night in our area. The noise from the construction has been extremely disruptive, especially during the early hours of the morning when residents, including young children, are trying to sleep.
As a parent, I find it deeply upsetting that my children are repeatedly woken up by the loud machinery, drilling, and general commotion caused by these works. Interrupted sleep not only affects their mood and well-being but also impacts their performance at school and overall health.
While I understand that some roadworks must be done outside peak hours to minimize traffic disruption, there must be a better balance between maintaining infrastructure and preserving the quality of life for local residents. The current arrangements show little consideration for the people living nearbyparticularly families with small children.
I kindly urge you to reconsider the scheduling of these works, explore quieter methods where possible, and improve communication with residents ahead of time. Advance notice and a clear plan to minimize noise would go a long way in maintaining public goodwill.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt response.
Kind regards

Dead tree was removed but has not been replaced
29th May
I reported a dead rowan tree in front of 129 / 131 Eastcombe Avenue in spring 2023. When I phoned to follow this up in the autumn of 2023 I was told it wasnt on the replacement list for that year but would be done in 2024. When I followed it up again in autumn 2024 I was told it hadnt been on the list but you had some trees left over and could now do it. The dead tree was then taken out but it has not been replaced. Please could it be replaced as soon as possible - I can keep it watered over the summer so it survives. Thank you.

Bag of waste left on pavement
29th May
Street cleaners swept the debris from the road gutters and left it in a bag on the kerb, but it was never collected, this was about 6 weeks ago and none of the black bin waste collections have picked it up, it is now ripped and starting to spill out

Overgrown weeds
28th May
I have previously reported this issue regarding overgrown weeds between Woolwich Road and Troughton Road in Charlton. It has now been over two weeks since the initial report, and unfortunately, no action appears to have been taken. The situation has noticeably worsened. This is making both pedestrian pathways and vehicular access difficult and dangerous.
I kindly request that this matter be addressed as a priority and that the area be trimmed and cleared as soon as possible. Thank you.

6 abandoned wheelie bins
27th May
There are 6 abandoned wheelie bins that have been here for some time - I believe they used to be used by the now demolished social club. I understand that these bins all belong to the local authority, can they please be collected? As they are often not so nearly positioned and block the pathway.

Enormous mess at end of Floyd Road
27th May
Overflowing Biffa bins. Many black plastic bags. Bins of furniture. Cardboard. People keep reporting this but it is NEVER cleared. What on earth is Environmental Health doing? Surely there is S106 and CIL money available to install CCTV and prosecute the offenders? The lack of action over months suggests Greenwich Council does not care.
