E16 is a postcode area within the London district, based in the Canning Town and Silvertown neighbourhoods. It is located in the east of the city, close to the River Thames, the Royal Docks, the ExCel Centre and London City Airport.

E16 was one of the original postal districts of London, when the system was introduced during the mid-nineteenth century, and was earlier known as Stepney. Today, it comprises part of the London Borough of Newham and is divided into five sub-districts: North Woolwich, Custom House, Canning Town South, Canning Town North and Silvertown.

The area features a mix of residential and commercial premises. With the rapid redevelopment that is taking place in the area, there are a number of modern residential complexes and commercial networks that are cropping up. The area is also home to a number of green spaces, including the Royal Docks, Central Park and East London Cemetery.

Canning Town, one of the E16 sub-districts, is the main retail and entertainment hub in the area. It features a range of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and community centres. It also hosts the largest outdoor market in Europe, with over 400 stalls selling a variety of goods.

A number of transport links connect the area to the rest of London. The London Underground's District and Hammersmith & City Lines have two stations in E16: Canning Town and North Woolwich. Bus services are also available, providing direct links to London Heathrow Airport, London City Airport, Canary Wharf and Stratford.

Culture and the arts are also thriving in this area, with a number of galleries and arts organisations operating in the locality. These include the Docklands Museum, as well as the multi-arts Empire Theatre.

E16 is a vibrant and dynamic area that is steadily growing into a desirable neighbourhood to live, work and play in.
