Whats looks like a water supply stop-cock inspection/access point in the road surface has become dislodged and a moderate-sized pothole has developed around it (Diameter 1ft, depth 3-4 inches.
This is a busy junction, if left unattended the continuity of water supply may be in jeopardy.

Surface Water escape onto road
4th June
As observed 31st May 2024 and reported to Affinity Water (CE-2720833), water was observed flowing in a steady flow down the road-edge of the northbound Carriage-way of Breakspear Road South, just outside the accessway to Gray's cottages., Affinity have advised me that the flow has been identified as surface water caused by recent rainfall. But this has been continuing for sometime now, irrespective of rainfall. I presume, from their reply, that Affinity tested the run-off for chlorination so as to discount the possiblity that the leakage was not coming from fresh water supply or sewage water ?
I note, from Google Earth, that there has been some recent substantial channel excavations for civil works to the rear of the pumping station (Ex- Colne Valley Water ?) adjacent to Grays cottages. This may be related to running a water supply spur to nearby HS2 site/tunnel spoil liquefaction works. And the possibility arises that a leak inside this excavation or an ingress of rain-water is causing water to build-up and run-off, apparently as surface water, to the road. It is to be noted that, in early May 2024 there was a serious water supply leak on the Northbound carriageway of Breakspear Road South, immediately outside the pumping works, which caused a large pot-hole to develop (Now fixed, and what appears to be a new valve inspection cover fitted). The owners and occupants of Gray's cottages might well be affected.
