Surface water
10th January
Surface water across both lanes on eastbound carriageway just after the on slip road from whiddon down junction. Its been a problem for years here and I recently spun out here from aquaplaning even though Im aware of the issue and travel the road regularly. Ive had enough of this road being dangerous as I could have been killed or someone else because there is insufficient drainage.

Lane closed warnings
5th April
Travelling west on the A30 towards the sign for Winkleigh Services there are a series of signs warning about lane closure up ahead, counting down. Traffic dutifully moves across and a jam occurs. When you get there, there is no lane closure. Have they been forgotten?

Litter and discarded items all along the A30
22nd February
Driving on the A30 yesterday between Whiddon Down and Exeter we were dismayed at the amount of litter and discarded rubbish on the verges along the road. The whole stretch of road was affected and looked awful - very upsetting!
We do realise it is Winter and the verges are not growing so litter is more apparent but it was a shock to see and we could have been driving in a Third World country!! Not only is this a complete eyesore but cant be good for the local wildlife who inhabit the verges and adjoining fields.
Could you please let me know what the policy is on litter on main carriageways please. I am sending a copy of this to our MP.
Thankyou in advance for your help

Aquaplaning
3rd February
I use the A30 to Exeter numerous times everyday on the school run. The length between Whiddon Down and Cheriton Bishop junctions on a wet day is treacherous with run off across both carriageways causing aquaplaning and subsequent accidents. I sincerely believe is the grass and weeds could be removed from the gravel drainage in the central reservation, allowing the water to flow into the drains rather than across the carriageway this issue could be greatly reduced.

Massive deep pothole
27th December
A pothole has appeared exactly on the driving line when driving East to West during the last couple of days. The hole is fierce enough to damage wheels and tyres it is 140 cm long, 50 cm wide and 15 cm deep. The road is damaged through to substrate and 5cm stones are scattered around the site and likely to damage windscreens. Needs urgent marking and fixing. We have put a plastic bag in the hedge to locate and warn but due to water the hole is not easily visible. I may have damaged a new tyre on my Volvo.

Major pothole.
17th March
Major pothole on west side of lane. This hole is a result of serious washout due to the installation of a new farm track across field boundary fifty metres uphill beyond entrance to West Fursham Farm. The new entrance gates show heavy erosion due to outflow draining fields out of the gate onto the lane rather than percolation through the hedgeline into the field below. The pothole is about half a metre across and 10-15 cm deep, enough to damage cars seriously. All the edge of the lane is being damaged by the runoff and floods gather at the bottom of the hill and in icy weather the road is becoming dangerously iced over 20-100 metre length. Runoff also used to be diverted into a field on the west side halfway down the slope via a culvert to relieve the flooding of the road. This is now blocked. More road damage will occur if the drainage from the farm track is not addresed, but first fix my lane!!!
