Water flowing into cab from unknown location
13th August
We noticed water was exiting the root near where cab and root jointed. We opened the cab door and water was up to the top of the root. We dug down at the lowest point of the site and cut an opening of 50mm x 10mm in the root to let the water out below ground level. Once the water had dropped to the cut out level, water was still coming in through the feeder ducts within the root, however this will now not reach the electrics. To investigate where the water was coming from we opened two feeder duct chambers one still in use, and the other containing 2 x 6 disused ducts possibly from an old telecom tower. The water is coming from this chamber and travelling through the network of ducts leading to the last cab on the hill and exiting into the cab. We tried to empty this chamber but water was still coming in a reasonable rate. We could not locate where the water was coming from. It could be a damaged pipe, surface water or mains further up the hill that has found its way to this point. We would suggest that this is sent to the council for further exploratory investigation. Once all our investigations were done, the water within the cab stayed at about 75mm below the cabinet root joint and was flowing out freely. Some water still remains at the bottom of the root and will remain like this until the source has been rectified.

This through road is a public right of way
used daily by 100's vehicles and foot traffic
As you can see in the photo's this road is in serious need of repair. It has lots of foot traffic everyday including pensioners, ladies with babies in pushchairs, school children, as well as huge 32 tonne bin lorries, delivery vehicles, cars etc... but the Durham County Council response to my concerns, (especially as the road has NO footpath) was as follows... " An investigation has been carried out and the road is NOT considered hazardous, dangerous, or in need of essential maintenance. I would say, they are turning a blind eye and as the photo's show it is desperately in need of repair.

Footpath behind bus garage
10th February
Not sure what section to put this in but it could come under a number of them.
Basically water which has been used for washing and cleaning buses is escaping from the bus garage compound and flooding the footpath.
This water will probably be contaminated with detergent, oil and traffic dirt and is as well as a problem for anyone trying to walk down the path it is most likely depremental to the environment.
