Tarmac in shocking state on the bridge
the wire mesh fabric under the tarmac is showing in several places leaving holes and dangerous to pedestrians and animals walking.
In between Mill Place and Irton hall is a small bridge which is in a shocking state of repair and has many vehicles crossing it daily and it getting worse. The wire mesh fabric is evident and tarmac disintegrated leaving holes. Many people walk over the bridge and is dangerous to both the public and animals.

Dangerous surface contributing to accidents
30th August
For a couple of years now (at least) the surface at the foot of the hill through greengate wood has been in a bad state of repair. There are several different surfaces, all at different levels with large cracks in the joints and loose surface. Given that the road has a sharp bend and then narrows significantly, this is a significant hazard for motorists. However, as a cyclist this is a death trap - the cracks are the perfect size to catch a wheel. The bumps throw a bike off to the side as you turn and it is at the foot of a steep hill. I can only surmise that this contributed significantly to the poor young lad losing his life on this corner last year. Beyond the bend itself (heading towards Santon Bridge) successive utilities repairs make for a rather interesting slalom.
