This very old and attractive direction sign has deteriorated to the point of collapse. One of its 'arms' is now hanging by a thread and is a danger to passing traffic and pedestrians.Sadly, it needs replacing.

Drain in the ditch is blocked, have tried to clear but without much success. Rain water now runs down the road before collecting in the first dip by the bridge over the beck.

Drainage Ditching
11th March
There would appear to be very little in the way of drainage ditching work carried out in this valley unless one undertakes to do it onself. I have begun the process at the end of my track to help alleviate the lying water on the road, perhaps CCC could finish the job by taking the ditch to the beck as must happen to prevent recurrence.

Grit Piles Needed
11th March
I recognise that grit is in short supply, but I note that there are now piles all over the neighbourhood with the exception of the section of road from Bald Howe to Goosegreen. Please can grit piles be placed at the junction opposite Bald Howe as this was treachorous during the snow, by the bridge over Blackdike Beck, and between the track to The Hill and Goosegreen. These can then serve the whole of this section of road and remove the need for me to slide up and down the road quite so far with my shovel and bucket to apply the grit. FYI a driver slid off this section of road and landed on its side in Lowthwaite Beck last year, so this request is entirely serious, not just a "nice to have".

A major pothole, getting larger by the day, in urgent need of repair. This has already claimed many cars wheels as it is right in the centre of a reasonably busy road.
