Extreme layby litter
24th June
Hi recently passed through on my way to Penrith and noticed the first large latyby after the roundabout near the Rheged centre is looking awfully dirty with plastic rubbish. Appears something has passed through and dumped rubbish all over this layby. Has to be the worst I've seen it. Could someone please clean this. Thanks Johnny

Gullies Blocked causing Running Wayer
21st February
The gullies along the road are all covered over with debris which is causing water to run down the road edge to the lowest point where it crosses over the road which is a hazard due to the speed of the road. On the other side of the road, the channels are blocked at the gullies which require digging off.

Wholly inadequate advance warning of 'lane 2' closure AGAIN
15th March
For the past 4 weeks the entire length of the offside lanes of the A66 have been closed from the Rheged roundabout to Penruddock. The issue is that yet again the advance warning of this 'Lane 2' closure on the westbound A66 is totally inadequate, comprising just a single 'roadworks' triangle on the nearside of the roundabout (only visible after one joins the roundabout) and a single 'offside lane' closure sign erected on the roundabout itself. There is no other advance warning, despite this carriageway carrying substantial volumes of traffic, many of whom are strangers to the area. This inadequate signage is very poor and displays an extremely casual approach to the safety of road users at this location, as the effect is that any westbound traffic in Lane 2 before the roundabout has to squeeze into Lane 1 on the roundabout. The exacerbating factor is that the Lane 2 closure is immediately after the roundabout, ie there is not even a short area to feed into Lane 1 after the roundabout. This issue has been previously reported back in August 2020, when exactly the same scenario applied. What is also disappointing is that I have observed that numerous Highways England Technicians have driven through this area during the past 4 weeks, and yet clearly this issue has not been spotted by any of them. Not the finest example of safe operations, I think you need to up your game considerably!

Old patched pothole returns!!!
16th March
The large pothole has re-appeared after a patch up job last month. It is just past Floshgate house and is often covered with water, making it hard to detect (until you hit it!) This needs to be repaired properly and not just patched this time.
