Missing/inconsistent speed limit signs
27th September
Lancaster bound traffic on the A6, as it enters Bilsborrow, is now faced with the left hand 30mph sign blanked out and the right hand one missing. This effectively makes the speed limit through Bilsborrow 40mph as it was before the reduction to 30mph a few years ago.
Traffic exiting from St Michael's Road is still faced with a 30mph sign. This makes a 10mph variation in the speed limit depending which direction drivers have come from.
Drivers can't know what speed limit the speed camera by the White Bull car park is now enforcing. Only 40mph is legally enforceable now. However, as some drivers will be going 10mph slower than others depending on the last speed limit sign they saw, there is a risk of frustration and risky overtaking. Speed limits need to be properly and consistently signposted to be respected.
