Wimbledon Way, Downham Market, King's Lynn And West Norfolk, Norfolk
PE38 9ST King's Lynn and West Norfolk District (B)
Local issues reported to Fix My Street within 2 miles of PE38 9ST
Are there any local nuisances? Listing problems that have been reported by residents, including graffiti, fly tipping, broken paving slabs or street lighting.
Accidents and near misses because of a lack of road markings.
7th May
Heading for King's Lynn, coming to the roundabout there are two lanes. Almost every day, traffic in the left lane, which should have a large white left arrow carries on and nearly collides with vehicles in the correct (right) lane. These will be people unfamiliar with the road perhaps - which will increase as we move towards summer. The left and straight on arrows have been rubbed off, and there is no sign. We need new road markings please or there are going to be some accidents.

Oil/Diesel spill at traffic lights
25th March
Downham Market. Railway Road junction with Bennet Street.
Heading along Railway Road TOWARD the level crossing, at the traffic lights stop line is a large damp area which has been there for a couple of days. It is not water, but is either oil or Diesel from a vehicle that had been held at the lights.
This will be particularly dangerous to motorcyclists the next time it rains, which, being Britain, will not be a long wait!
Some kind of cleaning operation is required.

Large pothole
2nd March
Priory Road, Downham Market, near the library and at the entrance to the Wales Court, (Iceland), car park.
There is a large pothole with jagged edges near the middle of the road at this location.
It appears to have claimed at least one tyre so far, and is making an utter nuisance of itself.
It would be spiffing if you could repair the road as a matter of urgency.

Illegal U turns damaging traffic island etc..
19th December
..Downham Market. Junction of Downham Road with the A1122 Downham bypass, (the staggered crossroads between Downham Market and Denver).
A housing development (Broadoaks), is being build off the A1122, to the North, between its junction with the A10 and the junction with Downham Road, (detailed above).
There is no right-turn into 'Broadoaks' from the A1122. A sign at this location instructs vehicles (mainly HGVs), that they must continue along the A1122 and make a U turn at the roundabout with St John's Way, (just beyond the level crossing).
However, as you can see from the attached photos, some HGVs are making a U turn at the Downham Road junction, by driving across the traffic island, (at the end of Downham Road), between the 'keep left' bollards at each end of that island.
From here, they continue across the kerb, then across the grass at the left side of Downham Road, and down the kerb, back on to the A1122.
Signage is needed at this junction as well as a concrete fence piece, or similar SUBSTANTIAL object , on the traffic island, to prevent this selfish and dangerous conduct.
The matter should also be brought to the attention of the building developer who, ultimately, is responsible for this situation..

Highway damage
14th November
Downham Market, at the junction of Bennett St with Railway Road, PE38 9EL, there has been a significant spill of white paint on to the road, (see attached photos), which is being spread in both directions along Railway Road by vehicles that have no choice but to drive through it.
NB. This has already been reported to BCKLWN 'Cleanup' (street cleaning), who have stated that it is not within their jurisdiction, but is an issue for NCC Highways.
