Traffic calming signs & measures. Winslow
10th March
I live in Winslow, many residents are extremely concerned about the lack of effective traffic calming around Thomas Fremantle secondary school and throughout the town. This town has expanded hugely with new housing and will only continue to do so with the railway station opening. Residents, particularly our primary and secondary school children must be kept safe from the ever busier roads. Much more robust traffic calming must be put in place as a matter of urgency. 1) As traffic enters the 30mph zone, before Furze lane, approaching Thomas Fremantle school on the right, very few cars actually slow down. There needs to be clearer, more effective signage so that drivers understand that they are entering a residential area with many children crossing the road. In Padbury for instance, and in many other villages, there are white gates and sign that light up. In Winslow, the road is wide and cars and lorries just bomb through, only slowing slightly once they reach the bridge. It's unsafe for all, particularly the secondary pupils who cross and wait for buses in this area. 2) All the speed restriction signs in the town are faded and those that are meant to light up are broken. These need to be replaced/upgraded urgently. 3) The pedestrian Crossing on Great Horwood is inadequate. Cars simply don't stop at the red markings and often move at great speed. This crossing need to be upgraded to a zebra crossing or traffic lights. As Winslow expands, the communities, residents and school children must be kept safe, a key part of this is controlling traffic as it moves through the town.

Exit lane from Addington adjacent to rear of Equestrian Centre
5th March
Another pothole. This area is very consistently flooded after ANY rainfall - puddle is typically 4" deep and 10m or so long, across whole road. Pothole usually therefore hidden!
The road DID once have a gully drain on the N side, but on resurfacing some years ago, this was surfaced over (it had been blocked for a while before this).
