There are 6 electoral wards in the SW18 postcode area, including London which come under the local authority of the Wandsworth Council.

Combining the whole postcode region, 50% of people in SW18 are classed as having an AB social grade, (i.e. 'white-collar' middle-upper class), compared to 27% across the UK.

This does not mean that the people of SW18 are wealthier - or higher class - than average, but it can be an indication that the area may be prospering and desirable to live in.

SW18 is an affluent postcode district in the South West of the London Borough of Wandsworth, covering the neighborhoods of Earlsfield, Wandsworth and parts of south Putney and Roehampton. It encompasses an area east to Latchmere Recreation ground, south to Wandsworth Common, north to Graveney Road and west to Burntwood Lane.

Covering over 5.5 square miles, SW18 is one of the most sought after postcodes in the London area due to its easy access to the city centre, attractive Victorian era housing stock, good primary and secondary school catchment areas and a lively restaurant and bar scene.

Transport links from the district include National Rail stations at both Earlsfield and Wandsworth Town, as well as bus routes on Garratt Lane, Upper Richmond Road and Roehampton Vale. Closer to central London, the nearby SW11 links to Clapham Junction for fast connections into London Victoria, London Waterloo and London Blackfriars.

The newly renovated Southside retail and leisure centre has many high street shops and good restaurants, including a Cheesecake Factory restaurant. It draws in thousands of shoppers from all over SW18 and beyond on weekends.

The area around Earlsfield and Wandsworth is green and leafy with a good mix of cricket fields, parks and open spaces, as well as the Petersham Nurseries offering shopping, dining and gardening services.

Additionally, much of the area benefits from green spaces such as Wandsworth Common, Deodar Grove and the renowned Wimbledon Common - a protected area, offering plenty of activities such as cricket, croquet and tennis.

Earlsfield is a well-regarded area, especially considering its proximity to St Mary's Church which is a Grade II listed building, as well as Southside House which is a Grade I listed house.

Finally, SW18 has strong commuter links, as well as an increasing range of local amenities, making it a highly desirable location for those in search of a mixture of city and village life.
