Washed out poorly done temporary repairs in Kettlesing
13th December
Temporary repairs to deep gulleys and damaged highway in summer 2024 in the stretch between Ivy House Farm (north side of road in bend) and the bridle way Siddle Lane. Most of this temporary repair has now washed away leaving gulleys deeper than before and further damage to road surface. The debris has filled the road dressings and washes down to the village leaving lots of stone and gravel causing a hazard.

Over 12 months of disrepair creating increased risk of vehicle damage and/accident. Road gulleys are also blocked with debris exacerbating the problem.

Inadequately signed roadworks and temporary traffic lights
30th January
Travelling in the past hour in both directions I have come through roadworks at this point which reduce the road to a single carriageway with temporary traffic lights. However the lights and the works are in a dip/on a bend and the only signage is at the stop points so queues of traffic are hidden until drivers come round the bend from the west or over the hill from the east. This is a road where drivers expect to be able to drive up to 60mph so stopping distances are potentially dangerously short and it looks like an accident waiting to happen, especially in the dark. There seemed to be some signs laid down on the verges which if on view would solve the problem. Needs sorting urgently I would say

Live peacock on side of the road
15th October
On the North verge of the A59, between B6451 and Cold Coates Road there is a live peacock. The bird has been there for several days. This is a busy road and I'm concerned about the welfare to the bird and distraction to drivers. This afternoon the bird was roughly at the position shown on the map.

Dangerous subsidence of road
12th November
On Menwith Hill Road as you drive from the junction at the top of Stumps Lane going towards Sleights Lane the road is increasingly subsiding towards the top of the farm. This is increasing and the camber sharply pulls the vehicle out of control towards the farm. This is particularly dangerous if you give way to wide farming vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
