Closure of Public Footpath Between Oaklands Lane and Main Road
Biggin Hill
Dear sirs, I am writing to raise a concern regarding the sudden closure of a well-established footpath across the field between Oaklands Lane and Main Road in Biggin Hill.
This path, which runs close to the public footpath near Victoria Gardens, has been in regular use for many years and is a key part of my dog walking route. On a recent walk, I was surprised to find that access through the field had been fenced off without any prior notice, signage, or indication of an alternative route (which further adds to public confusion!).
As a result, I was only made aware of the closure at the far end of the field. With no other exit available, I had no option but to retrace my entire route, adding an unexpected 30-minute detour and causing me to be late for work. This was both frustrating and concerning, especially considering the path has clearly been in frequent use and is visibly well-trodden.
The current fencing appears to be relatively new, and from what I can see, it has already been repaired at least once, suggesting previous instances of pedestrian attempts to maintain access. This further indicates the importance of this route to the local community.
I believe it would be in the best interest of both the landowner and the public to consider installing a kissing gate or a similar form of pedestrian access at the location. Not only would this preserve public access, but it would also prevent ongoing damage to fencing and reduce inconvenience for walkers.
I have lived in Biggin hill for a number of years, I can attest this access point has been long used by local residents. Many thanks for your help

Flytipping on FP241 between Oaklands Lane and Saltbox Hill
15th May
While walking the Biggin Hill Circular Walk on Tuesday 13th May 25, I found the rubbish pictured on FP241, a short distance from Oaklands Road. There are some corrugated panels of a strange material I fear may be asbestos. I have just been directed to the site to report it by BH Councillors.

Vegetation still not cut back from the road
7th May
Even though residents have apparently been served notice over a month ago the vegetation remains seriously overhanging the road and is makeing the road very dangerous, especially the dog leg around high house cottages/ashmore. The council need to take action before there is an accident walkers and horse riders use this lane and it is becoming difficult for delivery drivers to now access properties at the end of the lane.
