The Staffordshire Hoard

Thanks to the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Staffordshire Hoard - the most important collection of Anglo-Saxon treasure ever found - will remain in the West Midlands at The Potteries Museum in Stoke, close to where it was discovered in July 2009.Discover gold and silver artefacts including , cut garnets and warrior geadgear, a horse's head, snakes, eyebrow adornments and detailed helmet fragments replete with illustrations of warriors and animals.

Biddulph Grange Garden

The original Norman house was rebuilt in 1480 and, following extensive remodelling in 1701, was the subject of the most famous duel in English history in 1712 Lord Mohun and the Duke of Hamilton fought over the estates and both duellists were killed.

Salt has been produced in Cheshire for over 2,000 years and it is the only place in Britain where it is still produced on a large scale. The original museum was established by Thomas Ward & John Brunner two local salt proprietors who felt that Northwich needed something to explain it's importance as the 'salt capital of the world'.
