The area is well-connected by public transport, with regular bus services into Bradford city centre and a train station with direct services to Leeds and beyond.

The area is also home to a number of schools, including Denholme Clough Primary School, Thornton Primary School, Wilsden Primary School, greatwood Primary School and a number of other secondary schools and colleges.

For those looking for outdoor pursuits, the area offers plenty of opportunities for cycling, walking and water-sports. There are many canals, rivers and towpaths which are ideal for long leisurely rides and scenic country walks. There is even a three-mile walking route through Thornton Woods, which loops round the area. There are also several golf courses and parks in and around the BD14 area, along with many wildlife and conservation areas.
