Vehicles illegally using public footpath in error, 13th May
The track marked is an access to 4 properties and a public footpath. It is an unmade track. Vehicles are following Google Map from St Just, attempting to get to Bottallack or Kenidjack Castle and it is directing them down this track and onto the coastal footpath. The National Trust who own the track are aware and are going to put up appropriate signage. They said to contact Highways as they have had some previous success in persuading Google Map to correct their errors. Vehicles should be directed in St Just to continue towards St Ives down Nancherrow Hill and beyond. Drivers get frustrated as there is nowhere to turn round. Could someone please try to sort this out. Thank you.

On this bend just before Boswedden House Hotel on the right hand side of the road going to Cape Cornwall, the wall is deteriorating and has been for some time. With the latest heavy rain more of the soil has been dislodged and granite stones are falling into the road. This wall really needs to be rebuilt at this point.

Faded "giveway" markings on road ignored, 15th July
As you turn R from Cape Cornwall Road onto the A3071 the road narrows as you enter the market square in St Just. There is a give way sign on the left and the appropriate road markings. These are very faded and several times over the last 2 weeks we have had cars ignore the give way and force their way into the Square against oncoming traffic. This is very dangerous and breaks the rules. The road markings need to be refreshed so the white lines stand out.

Brambles trapping elderly pedestrian's walker, 12th March
An elderly lady pushing a three wheel mobility aid had stepped to the side to let a car pass. The wheels of her walker had been wrapped around by the thick brambles growing out of the road tarmac and she could not get free. We "rescued" her and it took some strength of disentangle the brambles. There is no pavement here and the grass/weeds/brambles are growing out of the tarmac in the road. The walls of the houses on this road abut the tarmac of the road so it is our opinion that this is a highways "problem" and not the home owners. The brambles need to be cleared as they do stick some way out into the road and have been growing there for at least a couple of years that we are aware.

Japanese knotweed, 23rd August
At the end of the public footpath to the rear of the building that used to be Boscean House Hotel and just before the path opens into the field, there is a very large patch of Japanese Knotweed. It measures some 60 feet long by approx 14 feet wide. It does not look as if this has ever been treated. We have noted this patch in the past, but it was quite small. This year (2021) someone cleared this whole path back to bare earth and the knotweed has thrived on the damp, humid conditions this Summer. This really needs to be dealt with before it expands further.

12 inch long pot hole on Cape Cornwall Road, 29th September
This pothole has opened up in the last few weeks. It is about 12 inches long and 3/4 inches deep and fills with water. A much smaller one is opening up next to it. This is basically a one carriageway road due to parking on the other side of the road, so the current heavier traffic struggles to miss the hole. It is opposite the field, on the right hand side of the road as you go towards Cape Cornwall, outside the bungalow called Murgh Wynn.

Overgrown hedges impeding pedestrians, 28th July
All up the de regulated section of Cape Cornwall Road the cornish hedges are extremely overgrown with a predominance of brambles. There are no pavements here in a 60mph area. Cars speed down the road and there is nowhere to go due to the height of the hedges. With the additional holiday traffic it is really difficult to proceed up or down the road as the brambles push the pedestian further into the road and cars approach at speed and do not leave much space to pass. Very frightening. By cutting back the hedges you gain at least 2 feet either side. With the advent of tourists we now have family groups, with dogs and baby buggies using this road to the Cape, going round blind bends, really not aware of the potential danger they are in.
