Road continually flooded and surface breaking up, 8th March

Fri, 08 Mar 2024 16:13:46 +0000
51.127064 -3.163633

Between Plainsfield and the Forestry Hut on Cockercombe, there has been constant fast flowing water for several months, several inches deep. Remedial work was done here some time ago, but the drainage in place is completely overwhelmed with the volume of water. It appears that there is more water than there ever has been before - I wonder if a stream has been diverted in this direction? Anyway, water is now bubbling up through the tarmac in various places where the road is clearly breaking up.

Large pool of water causing traffic to swerve., 17th October

Sat, 17 Oct 2020 09:02:38 +0100
51.117317 -3.140163

There has been a large pool of water covering the whole of the carriageway at this location for around 30 years. Today I witnessed a very near miss between a car travelling south towards Taunton and a van travelling North towards Plainsfield. The van swerved across the road directly into the path of the car containing school children. It was very close and the evasive action by the car driver avoided a potentially catastrophic accident. After 30 years I think it deserves more than a flood sign to avoid what will obviously lead to a major incident ar some point. I am raising this as a matter of urgency.
