Road subsiding, 13th November
See previous report FixMyStreet ref: 5110455. The road appears to be subsiding rapidly now, and it starts to pull the vehicle into the dip. Presents itself looking like an earthquake fracture line. It's not marked and not very visible until you are at it.

Damaged road surface, 18th October
Road surface at this point on the A29 is very damaged and broken, there's a very deep wheel rut where it looks like the road is subsiding. Pretty dangerous if you get your wheels caught in it. Looks like the road sub-surface is damaged, probably due to water erosion, but looks like it's going to get a lot worse very quickly.

Two photos of stag and grass verge- separate problems., 17th October
Two photos - not sure where to send them: 1. A very dead stag lying beneath the arches at Greatham Bridge......near Coldwaltham. He must have drowned having fallen in via muddy bank/slippery slope. He ought to be retrieved. Who should come and retrieve the body?
2. On the corner/junction of Silverdale and Mapleleaf in Coldwaltham - a waterlogged grass verge - whic has been like it for two months - whether it is a brolcked sewer or surface water drain,.,,,it looks andf feels like a health hazard - Southern Water or Highways

Trackside rubbish, 5th October
Accumulation of rubbish presumably thrown from passing train … or uncaring walkers. Difficult for members of the public (i.e me) to pick up, because it’s trackside and public access isn’t permitted.

Commercial vehicle Parking, 23rd August
A commercial vehicle is being parked at the bottom of my driveway, this is a large lorry that is firstly facing the wrong way but secondly restricts me from existing my driveway and turning left, i have had almost one collission as cars cannot see me coming out nor can I see them.
I believe the vehicle is used by a resident who also parks a horsebox and possibly two other vehicles on the road so does not park the lorry in front of their own home.
This is dangerous and unsightly and is also in front of the local pub which leaves an unsightly view for its patrons

Pavement width is inadequate, 17th August
In December 2021, the DfT published a long paper called "Inclusive Mobility". On pages 27-30, it sets out the minimum widths acceptable for pavements. All the pavemnent between Watersfield and Coldwaltham is now ovedrgrown and we are seeking ways to address this. A previous correspondent has referenced this photos. Is the Parish Council empowered to take axction to clear these pavements to comply with requirements?

Risk to life and limb caused by: 1. Pavement/footpath width inadequate; 2. HGVs wing mirrors overhang pavement when passing; 3. Excessive vehicle speed >30mph limit, 8th August
1. The usable width of the pavement/footpath along the A29 between Watersfield and Coldwaltham is severely restricted by overgrown vegetation. It is totally inadequate and highly dangerous to use. Usable width is certainly narrower than every statutory/recommended width I've consulted. 2. HGV's and other large vehicles' wing mirrors often overhang the footpath at head height when they pass. I've been 'near-missed' a few times. It's a terrible accident just waiting to happen. I realise it's an A-road in name, but it's simply too narrow (at many points) for HGVs to use safely. 3. Almost all drivers of all vehicle types going through Watersfield and Coldwaltham substantially exceed the 30mph speed limit. My best estimate of average passing vehicle speeds is c 40-50mph - especially those travelling downhill into Watersfield from either direction. (its easy to spot those doing 30 - there's a queue of imp[atient drivers behind them! Inadequate signage doesn't help and advisory speed beacons have little or no effect. Statutory speed enforcement and/or physical infrastructure is badly needed to make pavement use and road use safer. Please act before there's a tragic incident.
