Road subsiding, 13th November

Mon, 13 Nov 2023 01:32:06 +0000
50.922118 -0.56441

See previous report FixMyStreet ref: 5110455. The road appears to be subsiding rapidly now, and it starts to pull the vehicle into the dip. Presents itself looking like an earthquake fracture line. It's not marked and not very visible until you are at it.

Damaged road surface, 18th October

Wed, 18 Oct 2023 16:09:50 +0100
50.922644 -0.564314

Road surface at this point on the A29 is very damaged and broken, there's a very deep wheel rut where it looks like the road is subsiding. Pretty dangerous if you get your wheels caught in it. Looks like the road sub-surface is damaged, probably due to water erosion, but looks like it's going to get a lot worse very quickly.

Spilt oil hazard., 24th February

Fri, 24 Feb 2023 15:22:04 +0000
50.90929 -0.563348

There is a long trail of spilt oil at this junction. I photographed it today. Two weeks ago my friend and fellow cyclist slid and came off his bike on this oil which was then covered in water. He cracked his ribs, suffered multiple cuts and grazes and damaged an expensive carbon bike. The oil need’s removing without delay before another cyclist or motorcyclist is seriously hurt. I would guess the oil has been dropped from a farm vehicle or oilcloth delivery vehicle when turning the corner.

Manhole is still sinking after two attempts at fixing, 12th September

Sun, 12 Sep 2021 16:51:59 +0100
50.925239 -0.56442

Manhole previously reported and attended too by repair team. Sited outside Little Orchard. Is still sinking and will/is a danger to road traffic. I believe this may constitute an emergency intervention as cracks growing by the day as is the noise of the lid bouncing as each vehicle runs over it.

Tree branches endangering power cables, 14th March

Sun, 14 Mar 2021 09:46:37 +0000
50.911997 -0.564323

The willow trees on the side of the road have their branches now leaning towards our garden and are now completely leaning on the power cables which run through the posts in our garden. As the trees are on the road side they fall under Highways England responsibility. Can you please have these tree branches removed so that they are not going to intrude our garden and endanger the overhead cables?

Pile of rubbish on junction of Bury Hollow with A29, 10th September

Mon, 10 Sep 2018 16:32:28 +0100
50.913938 -0.562961

There is a pile of (now dead) branches on the grass verge at the junction of Bury Hollow and the A29. This has now been there for a couple of months. Approximately two weeks after it first appeared what appeared to be two council operatives seemed to be cutting the branches into smaller section, so it was assumed they would all be removed, but they are still there. They need to be cleared before the final grass cut of the season is carried out.

Dirty great pothole on A29, 27th March

Mon, 27 Mar 2017 09:04:19 +0100
50.916611 -0.562651

There is a huge pothole on the southbound carriageway of the A29, just before you get to Bury Hollow. It is fairly large, I would say approximately 20" in diameter so it is very difficult to avoid. It is also on a fast corner (50mph) so drivers swerving to avoid it creates added danger.

No warning of dual carriageway and faint markings, 19th January

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 12:04:15 +0000
50.908536 -0.56647

From the Squire and Horse PH going south, there is no warning of the dual carriageway, and the road markings in the central part of the southwards lane are very faint for the whole length of this dual carriageway. I used this road at about 9.15pm on 18th January, and found myself on the outer part of the dual carriageway as I could not see the lines. The temperature was below freezing, and this made me doubly anxious. The Google images are from September 2016.
