Cira 30 Potholes, 1st May
Severity needs to be assessed onsite by an inspector.
The carriageway is breaking up resulting in 30 plus potholes and failure around the road gullies posing a flooding issue. In places the potholes are unavoidable posing a risk to all highway users especially cyclists, pedestrians and equestrians. The full length of Pump Lane needs to be assessed not just this isolated point. Adhoc pothole patch repairs have created islands of material that itself poses a hazard / danger to highway users

Potholes outside Alamanda (Pump Lane), 13th April
Potholes outside Alamanda investigated on the 26th March 2024, job opened 27th March, action scheduled. Job closed 10.48am 27th March ??? The potholes along the lane are gradually getting worse, as requested on numerous occasions a strip of tarmac is required from the bend Five Houses Lane/Pound Lane) down Pump Lane towards Wintery Ridge. We are exasperated with constantly reporting our lane, which is not a private road and getting little response.

Potholes and damaged road surface, 12th April
Although this area in Lynch Lane was recently closed for quite long periods, no road repairs were carried out. This section is quite narrow with high chalk sides. Recently, when my wife was driving in the direction of Brighstone, an on coming large white delivery van which was driven fast, tried to avoid a pothole and forced our vehicle into the chalk wall! The front type burst on impact. The van did not stop!
The tyre was replaced by Wootton Tyres for £98. As soon as the vehicle was used again, it was noticed that a loud noise was produced from the frontal area. Chale Service Station confirmed it was a damaged wheel bearing, which they replaced for £198-46.
This expense would not have been needed, if this section of road had been repaired during the long period of road closure. Not only are there numerous potholes, but the whole road surface in this particular section is once again in a very poor state of repair.
