Concrete berm created obstructing bridleway, 2nd May
Recently a raised concrete berm has been created across the entrance of Mottistone Mill, Lynch Lane, Brighstone, presumably to divert road water running off. It does not appear that any engineering or planning input has been sought for this construction and it appears to be on the public highway. This berm obstructs the bridleway access to users of reduced mobility, contrary to the policy of the Rights of Way Improvement Plan 2018-2028: making improvements which benefit as wide a range of users as possible particularly with regard to access for people with mobility issues (Policy A, maintain a high quality network). The raised concrete berm may also form a trip hazard to both pedestrians and horses using the bridleway or walking the edge of Lynch Lane.

Edge of road breaking away, 2nd May
There is a small parking area in Lynch Lane. The water has been running along the edge of the road and parking area for a while and has scoured a deep trench. The edge of the road is breaking away and there is no line to show where the edge is. It is quite deep now and if someone puts a wheel off the edge they will be pulled off the road.

Broken manhole cover in verge, 13th April
Looks like the corner has broken off a cast iron cover in the grass verge directly adjacent to the road, leaving a hole into the space beneath. The manhole is on the southern verge of the Brighstone to Mottistone road opposite strawberry lane and near the corner of blind lane, pretty much next to the byway sign post.
