This appears to be taking some time to be completed under section 154 of the Highway Act this gives the highway authority powers to require the removal or cutting back of trees, shrubs and hedges that obstruct or endanger highway users. Or is it the responsibility of the council under Section 42 Highways Act? The 42 Power of district councils to maintain certain highways. E+W. (1)Subject to Part I of Schedule 7 to this Act, the council of a [F1non-metropolitan] district may undertake the maintenance of any eligible highway in the district which is a highway maintainable at the public expense. I’m sure that Roadside trees/hedges are the responsibility of the owner/occupier of the land they're on. These residents are responsible for lopping any tree or cutting back any hedge growing on their land which: * endangers or obstructs the movement of vehicles (including high-sided vehicles) * endangers or obstructs the movement of pedestrians, especially pedestrians with a visual impairment * obstructs the view of drivers of vehicles * obstructs or interferes with the light from any street light or * obstructs the view of traffic signs or affects the safety or convenience of road users Lopping or cutting back should be as needed to remove the obstruction or remedy the matter. You should allow at least 5.5m vertical clearance for trees and hedges overhanging a road, and 2.4m over a footway.
As an owner or occupier you're also responsible for removing any tree or hedge which is dead, damaged, diseased or insecurely rooted and (because of this) is likely to cause danger to people using the road or footway.

Disabled parking bays - no blue badge, 6th May
Residents are parking in the allocated disabled bays at the Whitepit Lane drop (opposite chandler close), with no blue badge. Two residents, including myself, on this road have disabled children and are unable to now park here & both children use wheelchairs & both have blue badges. Incident has been reported to the police and we have been advised to report to the council for them to act on. This has been an ongoing issue for months, and is impacting our children’s physical wellbeing due to them then needing to walk or pushed in chairs for longer as unable to use the spaces provided.
