FIXMYSTREET IN PO20 2AE
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of PO20 2AE:
Footbridge needs cleaning, 26th April
The footbridge over the A27 at Tangmere roundabout is in need of thorough cleaning. The bridge and walkways are covered in Blackspot fungus and green algae, debris from nearby trees and foliage such as hazelnut shells, leaves and brambles which block the built-in drainage holes and stop rainwater from flowing down the sides to escape. There is also some graffiti. Spores from the Blackspot have over time affected the stonework of nearby properties such as patios, paths, pavements etc - this cannot be removed with standard patio cleaner but requires specialist blackspot remover which is effectively a very strong bleach. Today I encountered some workmen trying to clear one of the drains who were clearly struggling to do this effectively due to the build-up of debris. It is particularly bad in the Winter as the drainage simply isn't up to coping with the rain. Please could this lovely bridge be considered for thorough cleaning as soon as possible? Many thanks

Traffic delays caused by unnecessarily narrow road, 28th March
The road here always seems poor, but this comment is about the road layout which could be easily improved.. Traffic turning right towards Oving always slows the traffic trying to cross the railway, and if you do not get across the railway you have to wait until the barriers go up again. There is plenty of room exactly opposite the Oving road where the road could be widened, allowing traffic to pass towards Shopwhyke - and crosing the railway more quickly.

Tarmac around a metal cover, 28th March
The tarmac around the metal drain cover is deteriorating quickly. This was repaired a couple of years ago but at that time was quite a big undertaking closing the south bound carriageway. So better to do it now perhaps - "a stitch in time saves nine!"

Bottom of footbridge entirely flooded and impassable, 3rd March
For the past week, the puddle at the end of the bridge on Boxgrove size has been growing. It is now more of a flood than a puddle, with the drains not working and more water being flung over the barrier from the carriageway. This is the only safe route for families walking between Tangmere and Boxgrove to access the schools on either side of the bridge. 2 locals have attempted to unblock the drains, to no avail.

Large potgole, 25th February
Large range of potholes, all in the same area of the slip road going onto the A27 at Tangmere. This is really dangerous as this is a space to gather speed when joining the main A27 road. This has got larger over the past 7 days and is breaking down in larger space across the entire width of the road.

Speed camera needed, 12th January
Evening! I wondered if it might be a good idea to install some form of speed camera on this road.
This road is notorious for speeding due to the long straights and not many roundabouts in between. I drove this road during the bad weather and the car in front of me (speeding) almost crashed because they were going so fast they didn’t see the huge puddle on the road. It’s a very dangerous road.
As of right now, I’ve just heard people doing donuts on the roundabout (I live just off the roundabout). Something needs to be done to stop the speeding as It’s crazy how fast people are going down.
Many thanks, Megan
