A pot hole /sinking road, 29th April
This pot hole /sinking road surface has appeared with in just one week - following heavy plant machinery and lorries associated with new housing site coming along Ashton Road. The hole is in the middle of the road, roughly between House No 7 and House No 8. Cars park either side of the road so it’s tricky to miss driving over it. The road surface surrounding the pothole (as is shown by the photo) is damaged and cracking.

Long and deep pothole caused catastrophic tyre damage, 24th April
Due to the volume of traffic yesterday evening, I decided to divert home via Oundle on the Stoke Doyle Road. There was a lot of traffic. I rounded a bend, hit a deep pothole at around 17:10 and it immediately burst one of my brand new front tyres, fitted a week or so ago by Thrapston Garage. I pulled over at the first opportunity and rang the RAC who advised me to call 999 as my vehicle was in a precarious position in the road. The operator could see the pothole that I had hit on his screen. I asked him to log it. My reference was 3663230424. I was advised that a traffic officer would arrive to protect the vehicle and myself from the oncoming traffic. After a long wait, I received a phone call from them advising me that they would not be able to attend, so I should wait for the RAC. The RAC eventually arrived at 19:02. During the time that I had waited, I took it upon myself to direct the traffic. I was very cold and hungry by the time that I arrived home in Thrapston at 19:30. All because the road hasn’t been maintained. A local farmer stopped to see if I was okay and proceeded to tell me that I was the 15th car on that stretch of road. He told me that he had repeatedly reported the potholes in this location to North Northants Council. Why is he being ignored? I will be looking to claim from North Northants Council for the price of a new front tyre. Please advise as to how I can go about this? Regards, Paul Robinson. Vehicle reg: PR65 MOD
