Pothole and car damage, 24th December
Last evening at about 18.15 we struck a pothole causing the tyre to deflate. The location was on the east bound track after Middleton heading towards East winch. My wife was driving and I was dozing so location is approximate. It was a big bang! Tyre deflated after 5 mins. Damage caused to the rear nearside tyre that RAC said needs replacing and some damage to the front wheel rim. I also need to get the steering checked out after Xmas.

Was going for a beautiful walk along the track around the back of Bawsey lake, until I see a delapidated caravan that's been dumped, loaded with rubbish and old appliances, spilling out onto the surround area. It's such an eyesore and danger to the environment.

Speeding vehicles, 25th February
The issue unfortunately is the speed and the number of vehicles using the Brow of the Hill road. As the name suggests the road is on the brow of a hill and it seems drivers see a clear road either coming up or down the hill and speed up to at least 60mph. This road is used as a regular cut through for many drivers that wish to avoid the main roundabout by the QE hospital. Over the past two months I've been overtaken 3 times on this short section of road even though I was driving at the speed limit. Wildlife has also suffered because of the speed on this road. I live on the Brow of the Hill, I have two small children and this road really concerns me and other residents on this small section of road. My wife often walks the school run with our 5 year old and our toddler. She always comments on the speed of some of the drivers - they are clearly doing 50mph or more. This is an unsettling feeling as they race past especially walking with two small children on a narrow pavement. I have read various minutes from past meetings and understand this issue has been raised before but I ask that the community please now address this with some sort of traffic calming measure - implementing a few chicanes. After installation they would need minimum maintenance. Also allowing a private speed camera company to monitor the road every now and again would be beneficial for everyone. This in my opinion would deter drivers from using the road as a short cut and help to keep the speed to a much safer level.

Stormwater damage to highway - location d, 13th June
I with to bring to your attention damage to a local highway called "Holt House Lane" near King's Lynn that runs between Station Rd, Brow of the Hill and East Winch Rd, Ashwicken.
Following recent high rainfall, there has been serious erosion of Holt House Lane mainly at 4 locations, rendering is virtually impassable by vehicles at these places. The erosion has caused holes up to 2ft deep to be eroded away, exposing the road sub-grade and below this, soft sand
The underlying cause of this recent damage to the road, is as a result of ongoing deterioration and lack of any drainage infrastructure along its length. Where they exist, the adjacent drainage ditches on either side of the road are now either separated from the road by an embankment or are above the level of the road (long term lowering of the road level by continued rainwater erosion). Any significant rainfall collects on the roadway itself and together with run-off from adjacent land runs mainly down the line of the road itself.
I had corresponded with NCC several years ago about the deteriorating condition of Holt House Lane which, to be fair, is classified as a rural unsurfaced C road (I think), required to be maintained to a standard capable of being negotiated by Agricultural and 4WD vehicles, and the period inspection times are infrequent.
That said, Holt House Lane is a quiet, out of the way lane with no inhabitants living along the most part, but is frequented by walkers, off-road trials bikers and occasionally by green-lane off-road drivers.
Over the last decade or so, it has increasingly become a notorious location for the frequent and illegal flytipping of waste from both comemrcial and domestic origins. Some of the flytippping is transported to the location by 4WD vehicles.
This is a much frequented flytipping location as the BCKLWN Waste team would attest to. ("Fix My Street" website of this area will also indicate the numbers of instances reports have been made until the BCKLWN declined to accept notification by this website). History suggests that the BCKLWN will, before long, need to access the road in fulfilling their duty as Waste Collection Authority. The current state of the deteriorated road means it is unlikely to be easily accessible by the vehicles that BCKLWN Clean-Up team use for collection of ad-hoc flytipped waste. NCC might consider advising the Borough Council as and when they may be able once again to use the road should waste be dumped there.
NCC may also consider similarly advising the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, Norfolk Police and the East of England Ambulance Service and erecting sigs advising members of the puiblic of the road's condition until any maintenance is carried out
The attached photo was taken at; Location D; Approximately 1200m from the junction between Holt House Lane and East Winch Road Ashwicken or 700m from the junction of Holt House Lane with Station Rd, Brow of the Hill.
