Need traffic calming measure on Oxclose(car damage, 13th May

Mon, 13 May 2024 22:29:29 +0100
52.602825 -0.286007

In the photos attached is my car parked on my driveway in front of my garage at 5 Oxclose. On Sunday 12th May 2024 I found that someone had rammed straight into my parked car and ran off. Within just over 10 months this is the second incident of this sort I have experienced; last July my car was hit in almost the same way, again on my driveway in front of my garage with no one taking ownership of their fault. These incidences have left substantial dents in, not only my car but also, my wallet as I am left to cover the expenses. This is devastating for me, as it would be for anyone else, particularly given the turbulent financial climate we are all experiencing. Last year alone after the incident in July my insurance doubled, to deal with this again is extremely stressful and financially draining. I am furious that I cannot leave my car in what should be a safe place on my own property. People tend to drive at high speeds on my street, even at the sharp bend at which my house is situated and unfortunately I am paying for it. It is unacceptable that I feel unsafe on my own property due to reckless driving, something which could be mitigated. I fear that one day it won’t be my car but rather me, my daughter or any pedestrian who is seriously injured or even killed. It would be massively unfortunate if someone was gravely injured or killed, a tragedy which can be avoided now. I firmly believe that if the proper traffic calming measures were put in place, for example speed humps and speed cameras, such incidences and the unnecessary emotional and financial toll would be great reduced. Therefore I implore the council to investigate and implement solutions that will keep not only me and family but also the public and our properties safe. I am more than happy to work with you and look forward to hearing from you. I hope something can be done as soon as possible. Yours sincerely Diana Resident
