Blocked Drain, 31st July

Mon, 31 Jul 2023 08:53:17 +0100
53.73796 -2.033131

This is always a problem and when it rains you can’t walk by without being soaked by passing cars. There are two drains, the higher one seems to work ok but the water stays once it’s only covering the lower one. This still leaves a large amount of water and takes a long time to drain away.

Underpinning / Retaining Wall Washing Away, 15th March

Wed, 15 Mar 2023 19:44:27 +0000
53.734874 -2.053048

Jumble Hole is part of the Pennine way. The retaining wall of the clough is washing way on the bend. This has been more noticeable in the bad weather. Should this collapse (it has previously lower down) it will likely cause landslide which will block the road. There have been repairs made by the highways agency in the past in two places futher down to prevent this happening and to repair a landslide when it occurred.

Blocked & obstructed Public Footpath, 15th June

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 12:48:05 +0100
53.721342 -2.033467

The Public Footpath which crosses the field is completely obstructed by electric fencing. There is no way out of the south west boundary of the field onto the Pennine Way - there's no stile and it's impossible to climb over a wall as they are in a dangerous state of repair. I believe the field is owned by Swillington. I last walked this route in October 2016 & had to scramble over a broken down wall to the north west, adjacent to Lodge Hill - this has now been filled in, leaving turning back towards Rough Head as the only option. Thank you!
