Large, unsigned hump at junction, 22nd April

Mon, 22 Apr 2024 18:32:27 +0100
52.854835 1.422668

This junction was recently realigned and a large tarmac hump placed at the junction. The work has never been completed and the old road marking have not been properly removed and the tarmac hump has not been painted to alert drivers and particularly motorcyclists at night. They did place temporary cones but these have been removed.

Deep mud in dip of road at the bottom of hill, 27th March

Wed, 27 Mar 2024 07:31:58 +0000
52.845565 1.466679

Mud from the nearby pig farm has now become so deep that, even when it is baked hard, it catches the bottom of normal cars. It is difficult for local residents who depend on mobility scooters to navigate, even when dry. In the wet it is impossible for mobility scooters and for people in normal footwear.

Lumps of concrete on bank, 26th March

Tue, 26 Mar 2024 11:07:09 +0000
52.855561 1.432598

One of the residents has decided it would be a good idea to put all this concrete on the bank, he did this last year & when it rained they fell in to the road & this is a big concern for drivers if they do not see them, some on the photos I took Sunday & drive past Monday 25th & some have already gone in to the road which is a narrow country lane, what if a motor bike or cyclist hits them ??? It’s so dangerous!

There is a massive pothole just near Luke Cottage which is getting bigger & as from my photos you can see the roads are not very wide so soon you will have no choice but to drive over it, ALSO there is few more as seen in my photos which needs repairing these are a little way alone the first pothole as you travel towards North Walsham it’s probably best if you just drive alone this road & investigate the whole road because this is where the heavy farm machinery travel along

Incorrect signage (Bacton RB7a), 18th February

Sun, 18 Feb 2024 00:47:24 +0000
52.845337 1.44557

Byway incorrectly signposted as a footpath. Norfolk County Council, please remember your duty, under s.27(2)(b) of the Countryside Act 1968, to erect a signpost showing, so far as the highway authority consider convenient and appropriate, where the footpath or bridleway leads, and the distance to any place or places named on the signpost. It would be both convenient and highly appropriate for the villages of "Knapton" and "Paston" to be included on the new signpost here.

Incorrect clearance (Knapton RB 11), 22nd January

Mon, 22 Jan 2024 23:43:59 +0000
52.851476 1.429204

Reporting further to https://www.fixmystreet.com/report/4607526 (May 2023). The byway has undergone recent winter cutting works, but the out-of-repair part, here, which actually needed cutting most of all - has been left untouched! The cutting machinery has swerved off to the east, even overspilling the eastern boundary of the highway.

Illegal notices (Paston FP 5), 2nd January

Tue, 02 Jan 2024 19:06:30 +0000
52.864462 1.457314

Notices on display, as per photo. Section 57(1) of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 provides that it is a criminal offence for any person to place or maintain, ON OR NEAR any way shown on a definitive map as a public path, a notice containing any false or misleading statement likely to deter the public from using the way. These notices clearly fall under that description. Section 57(3) provides that It shall be the duty of a highway authority to enforce the provisions of this section as respects any public path for which they are the highway authority.

YET AGAIN! Signpost leaning over (Bacton FP 12), 2nd January

Tue, 02 Jan 2024 17:30:37 +0000
52.843278 1.452973

Further to https://www.fixmystreet.com/report/1918212 (Jan 2020) and https://www.fixmystreet.com/report/4322263 (March 2023) this flimsy wooden signpost is AGAIN leaning severely - see photos. Leaning over worse than ever! The signpost is failing to indicate the whereabouts of the path with sufficient accuracy, and its poor state detracts from the very importance of the public path as a public highway. Clearly a post of this type is prone to continued leaning. Also, there is no information on the signpost about where the path leads to; FP 12 is part of the shortest public pedestrian route between the villages of Edingthorpe and Witton, and it is clearly highly convenient and appropriate for it to be stated on the signpost that the path leads to Witton, as per the specific requirement of s.27(2)(b) of the Countryside Act 1968.
