On the 90 degree bend after the orange thatched houses (when coming from Lutterworth direction) there is a deep pothole that when combined with the hill, makes it very difficult to see before you hit it. It is just opposite the house that sells barn eggs. There are two drains that are full of debris - one outside Mayfield House and one outside Manor cottage, 16th February

Fri, 16 Feb 2024 17:53:26 +0000

The drain outside Mayfield house is so full of debris it is now blocking waste water leaving the premises. Last night a work party entered Clay Coton and cleared out a drain less than 30 metres away, why did they not clean the other two?

Numerous Potholes and unfixed open hole, 30th January

Tue, 30 Jan 2024 09:48:35 +0000
52.387402 -1.133129

Numerous potholes as previous report from another resident, but with photos. The road has no street lighting and is a significant risk to pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders and motorists. There is also an open hole in verge/kerb which was identified by someone up to six months ago and seems to have been abandoned with temporary fence. This is a risk to pedestrians as it is very deep and could cause significant injuries if fallen into.

Trees and hedges overhanging the road, 2nd November

Thu, 02 Nov 2023 18:40:38 +0000
52.401607 -1.134706

The trees and hedging on the roadside are growing into the road forcing vehicles to travel down the middle of the road. This makes passing difficult and also scratches the sides of vehicles that have to pull over to pass. Being a rural location there are numerous tractors and farm vehicles that pass through the hamlet which compounds the problem. In addition there are several sharp bends and deep ditches along the road that also makes avoiding oncoming traffic some what hazardous in places.

Large pothole on the A14 eastbound coming from the M6 junction., 23rd April

Sun, 23 Apr 2023 18:15:05 +0100
52.398387 -1.157325

The pothole is around 30cm wide and 5-10cm deep though hard to tell due to the speed involved. It was big enough to blow out the sidewall of my front right tyre. Likely poses a great risk to motorcyclists who may be caught out by it. Unable to say exactly how long the problem has been there for but for several miles before and after the described potholes there are a number of equally dangerous ones.

Gate on bridleway FC4 - pin bolt does not retract with handle to release gate, 28th March

Tue, 28 Mar 2023 10:25:52 +0100
52.398531 -1.138484

The hate has a horse-friendly handle but the mechanism does not draw the pin bolt far enough back to release the gate. Horse riders would have to dismount and other users lean down/through the gate to release the catch at low level about 60cm.

Metal field gate on bridleway FC3 needs replacing and/or user-friendly handle/catch fitting, 28th March

Tue, 28 Mar 2023 09:55:53 +0100
52.39571 -1.134143

The metal gate is heavy and not easy to open for any users. It should be replaced with a gate suitable for a bridleway ie with a horse-friendly handle. Cattle are in the field from springtime therefore being able to easily pass through the gate is safer for the users of the right of way and the livestock.

Gate next to road on Bridleway FC3 is chained at a low level and in deep mud/muck, 28th March

Tue, 28 Mar 2023 09:53:11 +0100
52.395833 -1.128828

The field gate is chained at a low level so difficult to open. The gateway is ankle deep in muck which in dry weather when the poached ground hardens will be equally difficult to walk/ride over. Cattle are usually in the field from spring so entering/leaving easily is important for safety of the users of the right of way, particularly with the proximity of the road. Ideally the gate needs replacing so it is compliant with standards for bridleway access. At the very least the chain needs removing and an appropriate horse-friendly handle and catch attaching to the gate.

Lay-bys, 24th July

Sun, 24 Jul 2022 21:49:42 +0100
52.395122 -1.137603

Absolutely disgusting build up of litter in the first few lay-bys on the A14 Eastbound. Literally resembles driving through a third world country. People are disgusting, the majority of this litter is left by vile lorry drivers. Please at least put bins in these lay-bys to try and improve the issue. Further up near Kettering, there are lots of bins in the Lay-bys and much less litter.
