Sand, which has moved across the beach during storms and banked up high against the sea wall is blowing onto the prom. It has been in a similar state since late October 23. Sand on the prom not only limits access, but also prevents rain water from draining properly, resulting in large puddles after heavy rain. The sand causes issues for those with mobility issues, is unsightly and prevents pedestrians fully enjoying the prom. As we move into the summer months it would be beneficial not only to aesthetic and accessibility issues, but also to the economic issues for this to be remedied and regular maintenance undertaken to prevent build up occurring. The council spent a lot of money shipping in Sand when the bay was recharged, but more recently the management of the beach and prom has been neglected which has resulted in the issues stated.

Wood seating area damaged, 16th May
The wooden slats of the seat have come off & there’s rusty bolts sticking out of the concrete. It’s at the area where the old paddling pool used to be, at the bottom of the steps coming from Beach Terrace. This post was put onto Newbiggin News & Views by a concerned resident. I’ve also sent it to the Town Clerk at Newbiggin Town Council too.

Overgrown bushes, 15th May
Last year we had a new fence put up at the back of our garden. On the back of our fence there is overgrown bushes with nettles, thorns and ivy. As it’s overgrown it is now starting to climb my fence and come through to my side of the garden it is too thick for me to access it from the other side so I’m requesting that you could cut it back. My previous fence was covered in ivy and I do not wish for this fence to be the same
