Series of potholes are where the 4 lanes that join the M60 to the M61, before the split for M61/A666. Potholes are formed where cars are changing lanes at the junctions and are increasing in size and depth which could cause a future safety risk to road users.

The large tree that fell down has not been dealt with by yourselves, what has happened is that 3 different guys have entered your private area to help themselves to the main part of the trunk for firewood. The branches that fell on the other side of the road on private property are still there along with a branch on the road your maintenance guys will have to move to access your building, which more often than not is in the middle of the night! Please will you clear it all.

Trree fallen over due to winds and wet weater, 5th January

Fri, 05 Jan 2024 10:43:22 +0000
53.519313 -2.365841

You have a communication building in the area that the fallen tree was blocking. I was going to contact you about it but yesterday morning there was a truck parked at the entrance and two guys sawing it down. They obviously not from your dept as they just took a lorry load of nice chunks of wood and left the tree still leaning, the branches strewn over the road down to the building, but lots of branches over the other side of the small road which is not your land or so you tell us. It definitely needs sorting and may I say the whole of the wooded area needs checking for the stability of the trees, that one could have hit one on the other side of that little road and pushed others over into Wardley Hall Road. I see from previous reports you have dealt with problems down the road, but another problem is that more trees keep falling over down the embankment and crashing through the fence down towards Wardley Hall, recently just missing a friends car. Please will you take responsibility for the area which has been neglected for years before a serious accident occurs.

Damaged Fence Line, 23rd November

Thu, 23 Nov 2023 09:50:28 +0000
53.51668 -2.368142

This is the 3rd report at this location with no obvious action taken to remedy the situation. No updates apart from case closed. The boundary fence from the motorway down the embankment to Wardley Hall Road is badly damaged, falling down and in disrepair with large gaps. This is allowing people to climb through and access on to private land and a disabled angling club water with relevant problems of antisocial behaviour, vandalism, litter and poaching of the fishing rights. There is also a concrete retaining wall alongside the road that has a steel hand rail on top of it that stops short of the private fence and this also could do with being blocked off to stop people climbing up to access the broken fence line. This as been an ongoing issue for nearly 2 years and the angling club would like to have it resolved. Thank You.

Dead and live birds under bridge., 7th June

Wed, 07 Jun 2023 16:51:21 +0100
53.520201 -2.366799

Good afternoon, I am an inspector with the RSPCA. I was called out today to a report of a live bird trapped in netting under a bridge. The location is on Manchester Road, M28 3WJ. The bridges are where the M60 passes over, around J15. There are 3 bridges, the one with the issue is in the middle. When I arrived the bird had unfortunately already died. There was a total of 12 dead birds entangled in the netting. Along with a number of live birds sitting within the netting. The other areas of all 3 bridges look to have been covered with tougher plastic/metal netting and I could see no issues with any of these areas. However the area where the dead birds are located has thin wire mesh netting. It has got a number of areas that have been damaged allowing birds to get inside. Could you look into this matter please to ensure no more birds become trapped and die. I appreciate the other areas look to have been done and this may be the last one to do. Can you confirm the plans to fix the netting please as we are getting a number of calls regarding the bridge from members of the public. Kind regards RSPCA Inspector R King 16738

Damage to Fencing leading up to M60 slip road, 23rd May

Tue, 23 May 2023 09:34:57 +0100
53.516721 -2.368094

Some fencing has been damaged meaning that people are climbing into Wardley Hall through the gaps. There is a moat beside this area so as well as trespassing they are in danger of drowning or injuries on the sloping land that leads up to the M60 slip road. We are unsure how long it has been damaged but caught some people climbing over last week. Thank you
