Road works extended, 26th April
These works were scheduled to finish by April 28. According to the One Network site, accessed via Barnet Council, they will now last until May 13. These works have already been going on for weeks, and have diverted huge amounts of traffic through a tiny side road (Horsham Avenue, N12 and Buxted Road, N12). These roads are not meant for the traffic normally handled by the road where the works are being carried out (Friern Barnet Lane). Drivers, at peak time, are driving fast and dangerously through the side streets, putting themselves, other road users, pets and people at serious risk. Some drivers are driving on pavements, or breaking the speed limit by almost double.
Please, let Barnet council know that the contractors must make progress faster, and not be allowed to extend the duration of the works unneccesarily (by not working weekends, or slowing due to staff shortages). This work must be done in time or it makes a mockery of the permits granted to them, and it encourages future delays. Importantly, it puts people at risk.
This extension seems to have been granted by Barnet ( work number MU113SA-1169463 ) with not much thought.

Council workers/ Barnet homes, 17th April
Barnet Homes workers/contractors recently visited Basing Way but only spent a brief 5 minutes in the area before leaving without addressing the litter scattered around the estate, particularly at the back. This neglect is deeply frustrating for residents who have every right to expect a clean environment. It's clear that Barnet Homes is failing in their responsibility to maintain acceptable living conditions. The buildings haven't been cleaned inside for months, and it's evident that the contracted workers need better supervision to ensure the estate is kept clean. Taxpayers' money should be invested wisely, with a priority on cleanliness and maintenance. Immediate action is needed to clean the estate, including the communual areas inside the buildings, and picking up litter, around the estate. Rubbish bins must be placed in their designated areas instead of being left in the road, which only adds to the mess and deprives residents of parking spaces. It's crucial that the bins are placed correctly, as the attached photos evidenced the bins on the road. Urgent attention is required to address these issues.
Thank you in advance.
