Collapsed gate in footpath, 22nd February

Tue, 22 Feb 2022 11:09:31 +0000
52.949941 -3.91166

There has previously been a wooden gate through the stock fence at this point by the riverside. The gate and its uprights have collapsed and been trampled into the mud and the wire stock fence is down. It’s easy enough to step over but its absence also makes it difficult to spot the line of this footpath across these fields. (It’s also referred to specifically as a waypoint in the Snowdonia Slate Trail guide)

Gatepost snapped at base, 21st February

Mon, 21 Feb 2022 19:32:42 +0000
52.949867 -3.922697

The gatepost of this gateway has sheared through at ground level. It is supported only by the wire fence which is stapled to it. As it is immediately adjacent to the Cwm Cynfal gorge, it could be quite hazardous if leaned on, because of its precarious position. This is on the Snowdonia Slaye Trail and a fairly well known and well used length of footpath. This particular gateway is located immediately underneath the old railway viaduct

Fallen signpost, 21st February

Mon, 21 Feb 2022 19:14:17 +0000
52.948589 -3.922931

The signpost for this footpath seems to have been uprooted/fallen over and is propped up out of sight behind an adjacent tree. The post itself seems not to be broken - it’s intact and still has the metal footpath sign attached. Just needs putting back in place visible. This path is part of the Snowdonia Slate Trail, so significantly valuable to walkers.

Car park on junction, 14th November

There are 2 known vehicles park their car on the junction, obstructing access to and from the road and the view coming out of the junction. Today there was a car parked on the road eith the rear on the junction, meaning I couldn't see coming out and nearly got hit by an on coming vehicles. There is double yellow lines there to "stop" this from happening but it is still happening...

Our drivers here at arriva have noted that this road, begining at the junction with cefn road, has large sections witn overgrown trees. On multie occasions due to how busy it can get, drivers are striking these trees causing damage to the top nearside corners of the buses. The road as im told can be tight at the best of times and when passing other large vehicles its not always possible to pull in tightly

Pulling out of a lay-by just past a fast blind bend, 8th September

Fri, 08 Sep 2017 09:56:51 +0100
52.942048 -3.956064

The lay-by which serves as the parking area for our cottage, Pandy Bach, is located just around a blind bend. Cars are driving down that road at the national speed limit. It is dangerous to pull out from a standstill when the road is busy. Cars or motorbikes go right up your rear end, flashing or sounding their horns while venting their frustration; sometimes they overtake on the double white line. We feel that it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs here. The bend is itself an 'accident black spot' Accidents occur here frequently. The most recent, reported in the local press, occurred on the morning of 05-09/17 a short distance further on from the cottage, involving three vehicles, and requiring the attendance of police, ambulance and fire crews. Since this is a trunk road, this is presumably a matter for the North and West Wales Trunk Road Agency.
