How many more accidents must there be on the stretch of road between Castle Hill Cottage and the Crooked Billet???(several this year) On The latest accident happened in the afternoon on Saturday 30th October a motorcyclist heading in the direction of Towton, took the corner by the Crooked Billet at speed. The motorcyclist miss Judged the corner and took it wide ploughing into an oncoming car. The motorcyclist was killed outright. Riders/drivers treat this straight stretch of road as a race track and regularly hit speeds well in excess of the national limit on a minute by minute basis, these excessive speeds are not just over the national speed limit they are well in excess of 90 mph. There are several additional problems with this stretch of road. 1. Eight properties have a driveway leading onto this road. 2. This road is used throughout the day seven days a week by agricultural vehicles. 3. The stretch of road adjacent Lead Mill Farm and 4 other properties, coming from Towton is used as a high speed overtaking zone. Near misses occur daily and it is just a matter of time before the odds stack up against another user of this road. What can be done?? 1. Reduce the speed of the road to 50mph. 2. Install signage. 3. Re-mark the road with solid lines indicating no overtaking.

Road junction markings, 25th September

From cotchers lane (saxton) to the B1217. These road markings are very confusing for motorists joining the B1217. I have had several near misses whilst turning right into cotchers lane. Cars etc are using the opposite side of the road to turn right onto the B1217. It is an accident waiting to happen.
